ssaamm
I know it's a ways off, but we need help planning a trip next summer. I fish quite a bit, but my three friends are a little inexperienced. We went to Crow Lake (kakagi) last year--early June. We caught a couple of muskies and some smallies. They weren't exactly jumping in the boat. Had a fun time, but looking for a more user-friendly lake w/in a couple of hours of the border. We have a boat and would like to catch a variety of fish--just some action. We are not picky. A steady day of fishing and then solve the world's problems around the fire w/ a few cold ones would be the perfect trip. Fancy cabins are not necessary either. If anyone out there has had a good experience let me know. Thanks for the help! Looking for a 3-4 day trip.
Hemlock
I do know that Muskie Bay Resort treats there guests very well. I understand the fishing is great, and the meals prepared there are just as good. The good thing about staying with Paul and Chris at Muskie Bay you can fish Crow and Lake of the Woods all within a few miles of eachother. Sioux Narrows (Whitefish Bay) is just up the road 20 miles to get on some lakers and muskie too. http://www.muskiebayresort.com/Something to consider. Northlander
I agree with Hemlock 100%. I have stayed with Paul a few times and we have a crew that goes up every year. Food was fantastic and the price is tuff to beat. Lakers on Crow, Crappie, Walleye and Pike on LOW.
Gissert
Muskie Bay, hands down. We've stayed there the last 4 years, and it is by far my favorite place to stay.

Outfitter17
If you are interested in Muskies, Lake Trout, and Smallmouth, we may have just what you are looking for. We have clean comfortable cabins, bring your own boat packages, and great fishing. We are only one of two resorts on the entire system, (lower manitou lake) we are located only about 1.5 hrs north of Fort Frances, ont. Good luck with your search. Animal
I fish the Nestor Falls area usually the third week of June and take a fall trip in early Oct. There are plenty of resorts around the area to accomodate you very nicely. I have always found the fishing in the area to be excellent. The key to fishing this area is to be mobile and drive to several other local lakes including LOW. If you want to stay put and would like an excellent place to stay for a week and enjoy some very fast bass and pike action try Vic and Dots about 7 miles north of the Crow Lake resort strip. Vic and Dots is a nice moderately priced resort on Whitefish Bay. You will have access to miles of prime habitat for both large and smallmouth bass and nothern pike. The M's also lurk nearby and can provide a sudden strike that will keep you bragging long into the winter months. We call this area the ACTION spot. Crow can be a bugger to fish, but when the smalleys get going it is usually a TV show day. Last year we were fishing a bay near the Cameron portage and we could see 100's of smallys, but they ignored us like the good looking girls in the bar. We threw everything we had and even tried slip bobbers and caught zip. A week later a friend of mine was there and they couldn't get them in fast enough. The M's also add a real thrill for some moderate effort. We don't spend any time looking of the lakers as they have vamoosed to the depths. There is also lots of crappie action on Stevens Bay (LOW) and they are usually on the beds near shore this time of year. The walleyes are generally on the reefs and can be found in the Hay island area. This area can provide day after day of good fishing for the fisherman that is willing to explore.
