Is the last two numbers on an Alumicraft serial number the year of manufacture? Would # ACBK2197178 be a 1978? Thanks.

That is correct, actually the last 2 numbers of ANY boat hull id is the year of manufacturing, regardless of what title or salesrep says.....

This is since early '70s, prior to this many boats didn't have a hull id #

since that boat u have was manufatured in 1978 they would consider it a 79 I beleive

No Sir, that is a 1978, that's it. If somebody sold it to you saying it's a 1979 model they are lying.

Probably depends if you're buying or selling. If you're buying it used, a dealer might try and tell you it's a 79. If you're trading it in, it's a 78.

Doesn't the number(s) before the year on the hull id identify the month it was built also? And if a boat was manufactured in say Nov or Dec of 78, wouldn't it be a 79 model year?

Don't know about the boats, but on the equipment we manufacture, anything built July and on is considered the next model year.

Break Down of Boat HIN (hull identification number) for boats built after Aug 1984. I:E: EAZ12345G506

First three digits identify the boat builder. EAZ (RiverPro)

Next five digits are the hull serial number. 12345

Next two digits are the month & year the hull was built. G5 (Jul 05)

Last two digits are the model year. 06
