Red varmint light filters

Recommended Posts

for those of you that use these, do you think that the red lense is less "spooky" to the animal or is it just a sales gimmick. i just bought a on scope spotlight for point of kill for coon hunting but wondered how the heck you could use these lights for fox and coyote hunting like advertised? confused.gif

I will not claim that varmints cannot see red light. My dogs chase flashlights, and they chase my Surefire (with a red lense) like it was a crippled pheasant. What red lights WILL do is not destroy your night vision when you turn it back off. Somehow, it must not make your pupil dialate, so that there is no period of adjustment when the lights flip back off again. That may not sound like a big deal, but, believe me, it is.............

You cannot buy a better flashlight, from a better company.

I've got several. The E2E Executive in my car. A G2 Nitrolon as my everyday/hunting flashlight because I wanted the rechargable system and the multiple lenses, and a Surefire on my home defense weapon as well.

Yes, I love Surefire.

we use the night blaster gun mounted lights for night time coyotes out by the missouri river. many times with the red light lens cover, we've left the light on during the entire calling sequence and have had yotes still come running right in. i think that maybe some of the older song dogs will avoid the lights but for the most part they seem to work. the rig i use for night hunting is a .270 winchester model 70 with iron sights shooting soft point deer loads with the night blaster mounted on a see through ring system.

land owners can use the lights.

dump wait i may be in the wrong on this! i better check into that cuz now that i think about it i think a land owner can illuminate an animal for somebody else to shoot. i will look at the g,f & p HSOforum and figure this out. not sure why you cant shoot a coyote with a light though yet you can shoot out of a vehicle at them in sd. guess ive got something to research tonight.

Let us know. I'm putting money on the idea that it's just plain illegal in SD. When doing some research, I never found ANYTHING that was legal to hunt with lights under ANY circumstances. I could be wrong though.

I thought I was wrong once before but it turned out I was mistaken. smirk.gif
