Early Doe Season............................

Recommended Posts

i shot a doe on Saturday evening NW of Bemidji on a small WMA despite the 2 knuckle-heads ripping up the place on thier ATVs (that were suprised to see us) I don't have one, so I am not sure of the rules, but the sign clearly stated no motorized traffic. Anyway, my new Nikon binoculars are probably like the ones the sheriff might have and if I can see you smoking pot on your ATV, he probably can too. Other than that, it was a nice day to sit out.

Harvested 2 does before 8:30 a.m. on Saturday Morning. Worked like a SOB to get everything done as I was by myself on the property we hunt on. Tagged, dragged and gutted both before 10. Registered by 10:30. Skinned and butchered both before 3 p.m. and was on my way home at 4 p.m.

I checked stands on Friday afternoon and between that afternoon and Saturday morning I spotted at least 30 deer in all. It amazing how many deer you see when the 160 acres of corn on the bordering property has been harvested. Last year with the corn standing during the regular Firearms season was the most difficult (in terms of production) that we have had in my 17 years of hunting. I think this year will be a different story...

Take care!

SunnyD- What area were you hunting?? and congrats on the freezer full of fresh venison!

Catman- If you have a cell phone, I would put the local sheriff's number in your phonebook, so next time you see activity like this you can call them in.......It's people like that, that have the DNR thinking about closing state land to ATV use. It only takes a few small cases like this to ruin it for everyone!

Bucks-N-Ducks:

Location wasn't too far from where you are located. I hunt in area 210. That is about all I can say. With a our second child on the way due in Mid November, I don't know if I will get back up until Muzzleloader season which means my brother and dad will have to take up the slack during regular rifle season.

Good Luck and take care!

My daughter and I had a heck of a time deer all over the alfalfa fields but would not come across to our woods.

They were out eating all night and early to bed had to step on em to find them.

All in all it was a good time and great to be out again. Daughter was upset she did not get a shot at one but she has three more weekends to try.

In our area lots of guys out but not to many shots. Heard quite a few after hours shooting and i mean late.
