JIvers
At halftime, I cannot decide if Carson Palmer or Michael Bennett should get the game ball for the Bengals today. Both have done a lot to run the score to 27-0 at the half. And where is that improved Viking defense I thought I saw last Sunday? I'm beginning to think that the improved Viking defense was mainly Brian Griese at quarterback for the Bucs. Today's Viking defense looks just like the Viking defense of the last ten years, which is to say overmatched, undertalented, poorly coached, and generally lost.I really thought Daunte was going to make up for last week's God-awful performance--so much for that. I think the offensive problems are due more to Linehan and Birk's absence than to Moss's--poor blocking and poor coaching are pretty clearly to blame for Culpepper's puke-worthy play, and Moss did not stay in to block or draw up offensive schemes.A key theme so far this year for the Vikings seems to be sloppy play and bad execution--that is the fault of the head coach. How much more of this do we have to expect before Wilf pulls the plug on Coach Duh, and who should replace him?
barebackjack
I seen plenty of time for DC to get that ball in the air, I dont think anyone should be looking to him for anything extraordinary, he isnt the QB that some think he is, very evident. My opinion. fishyguy
I'd have to give the Bengals game ball to Daunte also.
Captain B.R.K
Obviously this isn't the Vikings of the past 6 years, when they had Moss. To bad they haven't realized that too. They have lost a few key personnel to make them where they are at to day. They've got a lot of things to work on. Don't mind the defense, you'd be tired too if you were on the field for over 1/2 the game. Start with the O-Line and then start working it around from there. bucketmouth64
Tice will pull any other starter on the team except Culpepper. DC could turn the ball 10 times by halftime and still not be benched. I would have benched him after halftime and see what Johnson could do. Couldn't do any worse. At least he has the experience to read a defense and run an offense that didn't single out a player (Moss) in years past. Daunte is seeing defenses that he is not used to because of the absence of Moss. Now he doesn't know where to go with the ball. Moss' absence will haunt Daunte and possibly the organization. Tice probably won't make it past midseason and mark the end of his head coaching days. He will still get a position coaching job. Cottrell will probably take over for the remaining season. Zygi will then clean house at seasons end.
JIvers
I agree that by the end of the game, Culpepper deserved a Bengals game ball more than Bennett. I would also give one to Red McCombs, who refused to hire an offensive coordinator to replace Linehan--it is pretty clear that Loney cannot handle being both QB coach and offensive coordinator. Wilf needs to step in and fix that problem immediately.
NAPAFISH
Quarterback is not an interchagable positon like a running back or a wide reciever. It seems that people think Brad Johnson is a better quarterback than Daunte. Where does this line of thinking come from???? How many games did Moss miss last year??? Daunte looked pretty good seeing defenses then....If not for Peytons banner year, Pep would have been MVP. What would benching him have done to the team? and his confidence? These guys are professionals.(although not today) We have all seen Favor throw INTS yet he bounces back.. The purple will be fine I hope
Jim Uran
Lets Give Tice the Game ball than we can kick his big #$% off the team and hire a real coach. He is the biggest joke. Look at the talent we have had and Tice's career record is below .500.
eyepatrol
DC looks like a deer caught in the headlights!!! He's panicking so much that he's not seeing the whole picture (the entire field). And sure, he did good last year. But he's back to where he was 2 years ago. Throwing INT's and fumbling the ball. Not reading defenses, then not finding the open man (or men). The Vikes need to dump Bennette also. Yeah he had a good year some three years ago, but that's when the line was giving him semi-truck holes to run through. Now that he has to work to find a hole and gain his yards, he buckles. Runs right into the pack of linemen and defensive men. I could do that!!! As for the defense, it's too hard to tell whether they're an improved defense or not. I mean, with what, 5 turnovers the first game and 7 last game, how can you expect a defense to shut down an offense that many additional times, especially when they're on the field for that long? 5 to 7 additional opportunities to score, and sometimes on your side of the field.....to ask the D to stop them every time is too much to ask.I'd like to see DC benched and BJ come in, but I don't think that will happen, at least not in the near future. Pretty hard to convince the owner that he's spending $625K per game on a guy who's sitting on the bench! Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't DC's contract $102M for 10 years? So about $10M per year, which would be $625K per game?Anyway, that's my opinion. If the Vikes don't turn things around and get to 6-2 or 5-3 by mid-season, then bench DC, get rid of Tice, bench Michael Bennette, and oh yeah, get rid of that darn Brian Williams (man he's bad). Shake things up a bit, see what happens. At this rate, they've got nothing else to loose!
nbdyknws
All our teams are just missing an edge, I totally agree with having nice guys on the teams, like the Timberwolves and the Twins. Which is actually nice because you see alot of otherteams just trashtalk and not walk it. But what happened to the competetive edge. And I think it stems from the coaches. And the people involved with the coaches. Some of those passes Dante did were nowhere near a viking, so something is screwy there. And then he comes out saying he has an injured knee. My knee would hurt too if I gave up that many turnovers. A knee wont affect your hands. For Bennetts sake I would not want to carry a ball with all of those huge defensive players swating at the ball. But Culpeppers errors are totally his fault.
kevfish
Get rid of tice now before it is too late!!!! If that dont work look at rebuilding next year. With the talent on this team we should be able to do it thius year. Something is wrong on this team????????????
Muddog
Lets see, Daunte Culpepper has what? 10 turn overs in two games and is going to start Sunday. Michael Bennett has two turnovers and sits out the rest of the game. He most likly will not start Sunday. What kind of message is Tice trying to send? I'm sorry but Daunte Culpeppers poor little brain just can't think fast enough for the NFL. He needs someone to read defenses for him and there is just no time for that. NAPAFISH; I see you think just like Tice. Pull Chillpepper and make him earn his spot back. Change his medication. Give him a sleeping pill the night before the game. Do somthing becase come game day he'll be worn out and brain dead at kick off time. The Great One would take a nap before a game!
