Alternator problems

Have a 25 Merc. w/ electric start. I think the alternator is bad. I cannot for the life of find an alternator online for anything smaller than a 3.0. Are they called something else? As bad as it sounds i have called two dealers and they're no help. Any idea's? Thanks ahead of time.

maybe it has a rectifier bridge like motorcycles use

could it possibly be a stator?

On outboard motors they are called Rectifier, they are nothing than a small black square box, approx 2"x2" usually on right side of motor .

What's your serial # ? I'll get diagrams from Merc and show you.

Thanks guy's. Valv, I did see those on yhe Merc. sight. Kind of thought they had a different name. When I would run wide open, my voltmeter on my Garmin would show 13-13.5. Now it shows 12.2-12.5 whether the motor is off or running wide open. Thanks again guy's. Serial# 06338326

curious...what should your boat motor be putting out when you are looking at your volts on your graph? my 175 merc puts out 13.3- 13.5 when running wide open but when im just idling its 12.5..

Mine is 12.2-12.5 when off or idling, and always used to be 13-13.5 wide open. Yours is right where it should be.
