Charles Daily??

I had to sell my 870 wingmaster earlier this year, and was planning on getting an 11-87 before early goose. But I am not going to be able to swing it this year. So I am looking for something cheap to replace it for this year for geese, ducks, deer and maybe a few pheasants. I have been thinking about getting a Charles Daily because of the price tag. I also like them because when I am done with it this season and get my 11-87, this seems like it is a good light semi-auto gun to save for when my oldest son is ready to shoot. Does anyone else have one? What do you think of it? Or does anyone recomend another semi-auto gun (not used) for $300 or less?

Thanks,

~Josh

if you are looking for a semi-auto thats cheap around 350-400 if you can swing that, bikal(i think this is how to spell it) it's a russian gun and made real well, remington just bought part of the company and from what i heard isn't going to change anything just the name and charge more. my buddy has one and loves it. i can't think of the model name for the semi off hand but, that sporting goods place has some in red wing i think it is called good sports

I have not used a Charles Daly myself, but I was on a 3-day waterfowl hunt in Saskatchewan where we brought a couple of them along -- freebies that they wanted us to test. We had a rookie hunter in our group so we got 1 Charles Daly for him and another as a backup gun. Neither gun made it through 3 days without major issues, by the end of the trip neither of them was working. It was tough conditions but non of our other guns had any trouble. I'd look somewhere else. Good luck.

Old hunting buddy of mine bought one about 5 years back, fine for the first season then started having cycling problems...pretty funny to watch when you can only get 1 shot off when your shooting an auto, needless to say there was some colorful language in the blind in the AM. Who knows maybe they have fixed them

Heard of a number of problems with the Daily autoloaders and I would stay away myself. The Minnesota Weapons Collectors has a show at RiverCentre this weekend. Run over and see what's available, you could probably find a nice used 11-87 or 1100.

A friend of mine had bought a Charles Daly semiauto two years ago I remember and it seemed as though only a few shells would work when we were practicing before early goose season.

On our first morning out, he never got a shot off on a bird, gun wouldnt fire. May I also add that he had a new 270 express before the next outing.

A friend of mine bought one a couple of years ago and it jams alot on him. He haven't even put 50 rounds through it. After like 10 or 20 jams on him he traded it for a remiington 11-87 12 ga. If I were you I'll just get that remington you were talking about and don't have to woory if it's gonna jam, it would be better, much better than Charles Dailey. Me, I'm a browning guy. I've been shooting an A-5 12 ga. for a long time now and has never let me down.

Take a look at the Stoegers. They use the benelli inertia system, so it is a benelli, but with a stoeger look? I have a friend who bought one and absolutely loves it, my other friend spent $1100 on a benelli and they shoot exactly the same........
