YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! hey windy, here we go again. look out for the indians, they could do it. twins are looking good, except tonight when they lost in extra's. if the twins pick someone up to help offense, and all the games we have with the sux, we could do it again. windy.....you have been a little quite lately, is it the 7 game losing streak. Windy City Walleye Hunter
Geno,If you and the rest of the Twinkie eaters actually think that my beloved will blow this lead to either the Injuns or the Twinks then I have a song for you and it is by Supertramp....Dreamer, you're nothin' but a dreamer. As for my next trip, I think it will be around Easter. Thinking of visiting the in laws in Florida for a week of fishing in the Gulf and golfing my brains out (what's left of them anyway) and then renting a convertible and drive down to Key West for 4 or 5 days for some snorkling, sailing, sun and margaritas at Sloppy Joes. The 2005 World Champion Chicago White Sox should be ahead of the Twinks by about 3 games by then in the 2006 season. Hey Geno, do you like apples? HOW DO YOU LIKE THOSE APPLES??? LOL YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD....YES! Windy
CNY Tim
Windy - No more trips brother they don't play well when your away. genegodawa
Supertramp, huh Windy? Well here's one of theirs that you'll be listening to after the Sox start another 7 game SLIDE - "Just Another Nervous Wreck". PS "Dreamer" is also a song by Uriah Heep (my all time favorite group just ahead of Yes).
buzzsaw
Yo Geno, thats just the way that it is was a great tune!! here sing it for Windy. I’ve been thinking about What you said last night And for all your fine words You still don’t have it right ’cause that’s the way that it is And you won’t ever change You can scream at me But the powers that be Won’t ever hear your voice ’cause they’re lost In their own importance No, they’ll never hear your voice ’cause that’s the way that it is And you won’t ever change it I’ve heard all your stories Of how the few can be strong And how you’ll fight to the end Just to prove me wrong ’cause that’s the way that you are And you won’t ever change it But don’t come cryin’ to me If your fanciful schemes Don’t turn out like you planned ’cause you’re chasin’ After something That keeps slippin’ Through your hand That’s the way that it is And you won’t change it
genegodawa
Windy, you didn't go on another trip did you? The next 7 game SLIDE has been started by YOHAN. Here's the second good one I heard from Harrelson tonight: This was the 60th one-hitter by the Sox BUT the first one they lost! Check out my post on the Heave the Hawk thread for his best one of the broadcast.
Windy City Walleye Hunter
Read it Geno, and I think that Hawk was correct. Even if Nathan struck out the side, they would have had a better chance with him in there than with Yohan, though I tend to disagree. Yohan got rocked on 4 hit balls in the 8th inning. Two were right at the outfielders, one was a solid single and Lou Ford robbed at least a run scoring double if not a triple with a great catch into the baggie. I would have loved to see Yohan have the courage to complete what he started and finish the 9th, I guarantee the Sox would have won the game. I give that game to Gardenhire for having the baseball smarts to bring in Nathan cause Yohan's tank was running on empty. It's ashame that Freddy got tagged with a loss with only one solid hit all night. He pitched his heart out and outpitched Yohan in this Pale Hose lover's humble opinion. Can you believe that in all this slump and bad record after the all-star game that the Sox have only lost a half game? I guess that's why you chop wood all summer during the heat, so that you can keep your brass monkeys warm during the winter's cold. Sox have used up most of their cord and need to start chopping some more wood to get through the cold winds of October. Posednik returns Monday, not a minute too soon. Here's to the Sox taking the next two in the baggie dome. Still, Geno, where would you rather be, in the Sox shoes or the Cubbies? Thought so.YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! The courage?? I'm certain he didn't ask to be pulled! Quote: It's ashame that Freddy got tagged with a loss with only one solid hit all night. I'm pretty sure when the Twins had a runner on third base late in the game and Lew Ford tagged one that Jermaine (ouch) Dye coaght over his head while hitting the wall was tagged! How soon you forget things Windy! That would have been an RBI if not for two outs. Your seeing the game through biased eyes, it shows in what you write. You sound bitter about the loss last night... I think your feeling the same heat as your pale hose are right now! It should be interesting! How about JJ tagging that HR and putting his head down and running the bases! Classy dude! I think when he crossed homeplate he should have said "Whats up AJ" WHATS UP?!!!!!
rundrave
well said buzz, Quote:where would you rather be, in the Sox shoes or the Cubbies? Thought so.cubs dont have anything to [PoorWordUsage] down there legs, come seasons end, who will fans be more dissapointed with, a cubs team that will still sell out every home game, and not be a +.500 team, or an overachieving white sox team that has one of the better records in baseball, stills has trouble drawing fans to a game, and at the end of the year comes home with nothing but shoulda, coulda, wouldaas for the twins, yeah the sox are still in first in the division, but fading(hopefully it will continue), wild card is still a reach for a twins, but I am sure enjoying the slip sliding sox right now. Still alot of games to be played, hopefully all the games are as great as last nights. WOW!
genegodawa
Oh Win-deeeeee, speaking of apples???????? Nice game, huh? Nice try Windy, now start listening to Supertramp some more and by season's end we will see who the Dreamer is and who was Just Another Nervous Wreck. Thanks for the support guys....I would rather be a Cubbie lover with the other 3Mill+ fans that attend games at Wrigley. Like I said before, the only diff between Apes and Sox fans is that Apes know their place. We all KNOW how Windy is and he will just NEVER write anything on the downside about his Sox - comes from years of looking for that ever elusive needle in a haystack or is it silver lining? How bold of him to "guarantee" something that would have been different, if only..... Whatever, the pot-stirrer in him just wants to see how we react to those comments of his. I know he doesn't believe in his own talk. Would he rather have a one-hitter and lose or 3 hits and win? Case closed on last nights great pitchers duel....reminds me of a discussion I heard last weekend about that 16 inning game between Spahn and Marichal where both pitchers went 16 and Mays won it with a HR. Those were the days of real pitcher duels. And to sum up Windy's concern about the number of innings Santana pitched let me ask one question -- how many innings did Garcia pitch? Right, 8, just like Santana only he didn't have to pitch the 9th since he couldn't keep it in the park all game like Santana was able to do. Windy City Walleye Hunter
Once again, if we equate the amount of rear ends in the seats at a ball park to the quality of the product they are watching. We must assume that the Ford Escort was a far superior car to the Mercedes Benz since it was the largest selling car of all time and sold far more than the Benz. Keep telling your self that Geno while you try to find a $50 parking spot up in that band box in "Boys Town" to park your far superior 1989 Ford Escort. I will have no problem parking my inferior Benz in the season ticket holders lot. I would also surmise by your logic that you consider McDonalds to be fine dining since they have served something like 80 Billion customers. Have a chew on that and then let me have it Geno! (You know I love you, man) Nice game against the Bravo's, next time unhook the trailer from Ramierez before he starts running. The difference being is although you might have a comparison in your analogies along the lines of quality, but let me put it with a different spin. Stony Point Grill serves a much better burger than McD's, advantage goes to Stony Point. McD's sells more burgers at a Friday lunch hour than Stony Point will sell in Jim's lifetime, checkmate for McD's. Who is the better business with more loyal customers? genegodawa
Or put another way Fishy, how can so many customers be wrong in their desire for the "inferior" product on the Northside? Windy City Walleye Hunter
Geno,You know I was just "funnin" you. I really don't own a Mercedes and I hope you don't own a 1989 Escort (tell me you don't own an Escort, right Geno?) I am glad that you took it in the spirit that it was given. genegodawa
Not anymore. Did have a 1983 stick and then a 1988 automatic Escort back when I was driving 1 hr each way for work. Finally graduated to a 1997 Taurus - much more comfort.Don't worry, I know the "spirit" of our chatting. For instance, after yesterday's Cubs loss and Sox extra inning win, I pulled out Supertramp and started listening to Dreamer!
Windy City Walleye Hunter
You see Geno,Music soothes the savage beast. Looks like the Cubbies are gonna need an entire orchestra following them around. The only thing I can say about this year Geno is, "been there and done that". With that kind of payroll and those kind of fans, it makes you wonder how they can be so bad day after day. Could you imagine what the Sox would be doing with another 25 or 30 million dollars worth of players on their team this year? I have to cut the Cubbies some slack or poor Ronnie Santo is going to have a coronary right on the air. That poor guy bleeds Cubbie blue and he sounds worse and worse each day when the Cubs blow another game in another fashion. There is still room on the Silver and Black bandwagon Geno, hop on! CNY Tim
got in to Jason Marquis???? Complete game 2-hit shut out??? Tony should tell him before every start, "If you don't pitch better your not gonna be on the playoff roster." I am flabbergasted to say the least. I guess will take it and see if Mulder can nail down the series clincher so far were 4-2 on this roadtrip with stops in Florida and Houston next. That's a winner!Gene - I heard Matt Lawton was traded to the Yanks?
Windy City Walleye Hunter
CNY,Lawton was traded for some minor league prospect. Let the fire sale begin on the north side. I heard Mulder is hurt, didn't start his turn in the rotation, what's the buzz? I work with a guy who played on the same team as Mulder in high school, he says he's a pretty good guy. Glad to see both magic numbers going down, time to finish the M's off today!YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! Windy
CNY Tim
Our magic number is 18 at last check but neither Edmonds or Mulder's tweaks are a concern right now. He's just gonna miss his start, heck we don't want to bring back Reyes from AAA again he already was stellar in his debut. Bullpen did a nice job yesterday Eldred 3, Thompson 3, Tavarez, Reyes and King combined for a 4 hit shut-out and second straight 6-0 win over the Nats. Big series against the Marlins and it looks like Sanders will start seeing some playing time after the road trip so that's good news. "That's a winner!"
