2005 Tracker Pro 175 - Opinions

What do you think about the 05 Tracker Pro 175? I would like the good / bad and ugly opinions about it before I purchase one. It's coming with the 50 hp Mercury motor and fully rigged.

I just got a 98' Pro Team 185 this spring and love it! I have the 90 horse and she goes about 45 with just me in the boat. The boat has an incredibly smooth ride with the revolution hull. The only thing bad about these boats is that the decals seem to start peeling away on them all after a few years. Although, my boat is 7 years old and only one side is starting to peel away on the bottom. If worse comes to worse I can always buy new ones and put them on. Thats just one thing I seem to notice on the Trackers after they are a few years old.

I don't know if the new ones are different by my buddy got a 98' 175 this spring and his rod lockers don't hold 7' rods. Thats the main reason I looked for a 185. One other thing, my boat came with a motorguide 43lb trolling motor and it absolutely sucked a*s. I couldn't take it anymore after a month and I upgraded to a Minnkota Maxxum 75. Now I don't have to curse at my trolling motor anymore, best upgrade I've ever made. If you buy new, try and see if you can upgrade from the crappy motorguide they throw on there. The stock depth finder they had on there was also garbage. I just upgraded that this past Sunday.

FYI...I got my boat, with only 12 hours on the motor, for $6200...on hsolist!

Thanks for the feedback. Since no-one else has any other feedbacks, I'm picking up the new boat today! This will be my first brand new boat grin.gif

WebWarrior,

If its not Lund or Crestliner not to many people will talk about it. No pun intended. You will love the boat. I recently bought a 2000 model and love it. All I had to compare it to though was a old 14' lund! 50 HP seem awfully small? Let me know haow it works....

Sorry I didnt see this before. Trackers package deals come with bare bones goods. Small underpowered motors, electronics and trolling motors. Upgrade the motor if its not too late. At least the motor.

I just picked up the boat today!! I actually got the 60hp motor instead of the 50 I originally thought. I took her out and stretched her legs alittle. I was able to get her to plane and hit 30mph on the tach. Not bad on the 1st day out! Didn't catch any fish though grin.gif

blakjack,

Yes, I realized it when I was able to fit my 7ft muskie rod in there grin.gif Oh and I got the Blue one. Will post pictures of it tomorrow

I was thinking bout upgrading the trolling motor to a 55ft ln Minnkota Maxum but figured the 10 xtra ft lb's wasn't worth the extra 500.00 grin.gif Oh and I was told I was suppose to get the 50hp motor but then I got the 60hp motor instead so I like it grin.gif

I have a 2000 Pro Team 165 and really enjoy it. I would also suggest to upgrade electric motor to a minn kota. And get the most horse power the boat will allow and what your pocket book can afford.

I looked at other boat packages too but this one had the features I liked, like the BIG fishing platform!! grin.gif

I just bought a '05 18ft. Tracker Tundra DC w/115 Merc.

Still having warranty issues with Tracker Co. and Link's in St. Cloud, but will let you know how it all turns out.

I really like all the storage room/compartments and it's a sharp set-up, too.

I won't say anything else right now because I don't want to hurt anyone's reputation before they get a chance to fix everything.

Had the boat out in the water. The thing is kinda hard to get started and keep running. IT could be because its brand new. I hope thats just the case confused.gif

I have seen 4 new mercs this year that have needed a jetting change. If you are still on your first tank of fuel they normally mix the oil in it heavy for lubrication during the break in period. If it keeps up do not hesitate to bring it in.

I did mix in 1qt on 9 gallons of gas so that should be sufficient. After the gas is empty, I will check the oil levels on the engine to make sure everything is fine. But yes, I will keep an eye on it.

Sorry I probably wasn't clear with the lack of time I had so I will expound a little.

The jets are basically a piece in the carbs that regulate the fuel flow into your cylinders. If they are to small your motor will be starved for gas. If they are too big your motor will get too much gas. Either will make it run bad.

I am assuming that your motor is oil injected so you fill a resevoir on the motor. However they still ask you to mix the gas the first tank or two. This alot of times will make the motor run rich. When it runs rich it usually smokes more than normal and runs poorly.

This season I have personally seen 4 Mercs that have had to go back into the boat dealers because after they ran that first oil mixed tank of gas through the motor it still ran poorly. On all of them it was jetting issues.

So if your motor is still running poorly after that gas is used up I would suspect that you are a victim of a poorly jetted Merc. A good dealer can have this ironed out in about half an hour to an hour. Bring it back and have them fix it. You'll love your new rig even more once it is running right.

This is like my 1st brand new boat ever and I like it alot..

I was amazed too on how nice the blue is. IT doesn't look all that nice in the photos but in person, the blue really stands out!

Scarecrow22,

Was that you I was chatting with Sunday night? grin.gif

Not that any validation is necessary, but I can vouch for how nice it looks. Saw it coming out of the water at Hidden Falls on Sunday.

Even a dinged prop couldn't detract from the appearance
