Hey Windy is this the real Pale Hose?

Oh yeah, Windy sure wasn't asking for any brooms this weekend, was he?

HOPE springs eternal.....Cubs sweep Marlins and A's sweep ChiSox. Great to be a Cub fan this weekend. Like I told my son's coach who is a big Cardinal fan, if they can go up by 12 in half a season, they can go down by 12 the second half. Good old Yogi was right. It ain't over 'till its over!

Hey Geno,

Even a broken clock is right twice a day! I can only hope the A's don't make it into the playoffs. Or we can just end the suspense and acquire Mr. Zito for the pennant drive. Had a huge fish fry today Geno, everybody was over to the ranch talking about plans for Cass 2005 and we decided to pool the remaining walleye from 2004 to empty out the cooler for this year's bounty. We must have cooked up about 40 walleye and 20 perch. What a feast! Got the juices flowing for our trip in a few weeks. Oh well, enough talk about that. Who is going to start the All-Star game? Garland or Buehrle. Any speculation on the outcome, my Cubbie-Loving brother? I say American League (duh!) 8-3 with Buehrle being the MVP.

The All-Star game will probably be won by the American League again, what have they won like the last 7 all-star games? Francona has talked to Guillen about starting Buehrle for the AL in the all-star game. I was glad to see Rolen pull out of the all-star game, he came back way to early from his shoulder surgery and his offense has suffered but his defense has been nothing short of spectacular. We slumped offensively on the latter part of this west coast roadtrip but still took 5 of 7. The Astros are sizzling and the Cubbies are back on track since D.Lee started playing again. Shapes up for an exciting second half, the wild card races for both leagues will be something to watch...

Tim,

Lucky our main guy, D Lee, is back. Another nice guy like Albert.

Windy,

Nice try with the clock comment and trying to divert attn from the sweep by bringing up Zito, but we can still see the sweat starting to form on you.

As to the fish-fry.......next time send me an invitation and I'll be there. But you'll have to fry up many more 'cause I can eat alot of fish. My buddy is having his Cass fish fry on the 24th. There will be about 60 people enjoying Cass Lake's finest - all species. Can't wait.

Hope you slay 'em and have a good time and good weather on your trip. Ought to be a much closer race by the time you return.

Geno,

I'm in "vacation-mode" countdown, so you're not going to put a kink in my colon. I think that if the Sox can maintain a lead through the end of August, they will cruise to the division. September looks to be pretty easy for the Pale Hose and looks brutal for the Twinks. But you can't count out the Injuns yet.

That's the way it is with us too, Windy. Nothing puts a kink in vacation-mode ESPECIALLY when Cass is our destination. We spend 6 months remembering the last trip and 6 months planning the next. Shoot, next year I just might make it 2 weeks somehow or another. Gotta save up my pennies though.

I'm not trying to downplay Cass lake guys, but Winni is right down the road and is surely a more productive lake right??? I know the Walleye fishing is off the charts better and the State record Muskie came out of Winni right??? soooo you must be getting a great deal on a cabin right? grin.gif

Not really Buzz,

But our family has been going up to Cass for the past 18 years and we have about 20 people going this year that span over 4 generations so it is kind of a family tradition. With the aid of my trusty guide, Brian Jones who moderates the Cass thread, I have been able to send every family member home with a limit of wallys every year. Brian takes me out the first day of my trip and shows me what's hot and what's not and I do the rest for the next two weeks. We have stayed at the same resort every year and they do treat us well. We have had our share of bad years when the cooler going home was kind of light but the trips are always enjoyable.

Hey Buzz, what's your thoughts on Boone? Seems like a no brainer for the Twinks but he does have a bad rep of being a washed up roid head. Think there is any gas in the tank for Mr. Boone. Compared to what you got now though he might be worth the risk.

Geno,

If you can get up there for two weeks, I would highly recommend it. It started for me about 3 years ago as my wife and I headed into Teals to pick up our dry ice for our ride home. She said that it seemed like we just get there and it is time to go home. SHE WAS THE ONE WHO CAME UP WITH THE IDEA! Didn't take much convincing on my part. I told her that you use the same amount of gas getting up there and the license is good for two weeks, and you have to eat whether it is in MN or IL so that was a wash. The only extra expense was the cabin. I managed to get a smaller cabin than the one we use for our whole family so the cost was only about $500 extra. Well worth it for doubling my MN vacation. The first week up there it is just me and the Mrs. and we don't cook, restaurants all the way and I fish, she reads and we go to the casino and movies in Bemidji. We have a great time, very relaxing before the troops decend upon Cass for week two. I can hardly wait. Oh well, enough Cass talk. I got to concentrate on Mr Buehrle and Mr Garland getting my beloved American League a win so the Sox have home field advantage and I get to see one more playoff game at The Cell. Later, my friend.

Windy, As far as Boone goes... who knows??? we didn't give up much apparently so if he does anything it will be better than what we have now. I expect him to produce more taters and rbi's... his glove is solid as well as he's won four gold gloves.

As for Cass, I'll be on Cass Lake Friday, July 29th, Winni on the 30th and possibly Leech on that Sunday... unless we get a better idea, then we might not do the Leech lake visit. Will you be up at Cass on the 29th? if so, we should smokem' peace pipe.

Windy, you lucky duck. A great woman behind every man! My wife can't understand why I go almost every year (26 out of 30) to Cass and don't try anything new. She's gonna dirty her drawers if I try to stay 2 weeks.

Buzz, you might be right about better lakes, but the problem is how long it takes to get to know a new lake when you only have a week to enjoy it. Sure we have had a few bad years, but for the most part Cass has provided quite a few fishfrys over the years. You know the old saying...don't mess with success. I know fishing isn't all about just the catching. I spend my leisure time chasing gills and cats and LMB here in IL on small private lakes and nothing is more relaxing than waiting for that bobber to go under. Maybe when I have an entire summer off to spend in the great northwoods I will let you guide me on Winnie or Leech or another of your favorites. I really wouldn't mind having more than just one favorite lake.

Blabbing a little long and now gotta get back to work.

Later,
