Fav. lake for a Cabin?

What is everyone's favorite lake for a cabin and why?

Money being no object, I would say Vermillion. Excellent walleye, crappie, muskie and smallmouth fishing in a beautiful setting.

I like setterguy's choice, but I have to say - there is no single answer on this one. If I could, I'd have one on Vermilion, one on Lake Kabekona, Mille Lacs, Crane Lake, the Rainy River, Ottertail, and a few on other smaller lakes that I've come to love over the years. Every lake has it's own personality and features, so it's a matter of finding the unique combination you're looking for. You can probably see from my choices that I'm a walleye junkie though!

We don't have a cabin at all right now, but hey - just like the Powerball..."It could happen". Yeah, right.

I would like to have one in the Grand Rapids area. Since I grew up there I know alot of the lakes. I plan to retire up there in 20 to 30 years. My family has 120 acres in the Marcell area. That is where I will probably end up.

My favorite lake for a cabin would be something in the Grand Rapids area. Lots of good lakes for fishing and the people seem very nice. Plus I've never lost yet at the Casino outside Deer River. In fact one opening weekend I won enough to pay for the entire trip for the three of us that went. That included bait, gas, food, cabin rental and some good ole barley pop.

Now if I had smaller kids I'd say the Brainerd area. Still lots of good lakes to fish but there is also some other things like go carts, bumper boats, water slide etc: that the kids could do if they got board fishing.

Canadian side of LOW on one of those small islands, by Kenora Onterio. Excellent Smallies, Northern, Muskie, Walleye, you name it, they got it.

I'll offer up my 2 cents on this....i've fished Vermilion once when I was about 14 and from what I can remember it was a beautiful lake with all the species most fishermen look for. I like LOTW but Vermilion seems to be a little more remote. After moving to Texas my fishing trips up north have been sadly put to a screeching halt. Hopefully in the next couple of years we can get back to God's country. Besides....it's like living in a flippin' roaster oven down here. Today it hit 105 degrees. Too hot for me thanks!
