So how did the MN Musky Opener treat you all...

Hit a North Metro Lake this morning about 5:15 am, and by 5:45 I had a 31" and 39" in the boat, and nailed a 41 shortly after 8:00 am. My best opener so far hands downs, and a personal best day to boot, 3 fish one outing...

I threw nothing but gliders all day REAL SLOW with ever so important pauses...

Congratulation on your fish! WOW!

We were on the same lake as you. In 2.5 hours we had 14 follows and some of the bigger ones were in the 43"-46" range. It was unbelievable however none of the would grab our baits. They would follow to the boat and follow a figure 8 around and then just sink out of sight. We saw all ours on bucktails it seemed the color for us was something with orange in it. We had a blast!

I was out on Harriet Sunday morning from 5:00am to about 10:00am. Saw a follow. all she did was come and sniff the lure, which got my blood pumping but other then that, I was pretty much skunked.. That and all the sailboaters came out on the lake mad.gif

Man it was great t0o be out there chasing Muskies again. Boated a 36"er with a client on Saturday morning and then took my wife out the rest of the day in the rain.

We raised 9 fish just ahead of the late afternoon thunderstorms, unfortunately only one would bite.

It was a 44"er, caught on a Black/chart bucktail in very shallow water. Most of the fish we seen were very lathargic and many of them had spawning scars on their tails. smile.gif

All in all a pretty good day.

Hello Everyone,

Hope that I can make some new fishing and passing info buddies on this forum. Oh well here goes my first post. It was so great to actually be out chasing after them muskies. My other half and I hit the Cass Lake area. Had 7 follow-ups got a 37 incher boated on a glide bait. But got a real surprise of hooking into a 39 1/4 northern. Boy lot of the gals were still awful rough looking from spawning. Happy fishing and good luck to ya all. Hope to see ya on the water soon.

Fished the Bemidji area this weekend. Saturday morning (5:30am - 11:00am) fished Plantan. Had 4 follows right away in the morning and that was it. Fish followed on a Rad Dog, Grandma, and the new glide bait from ERC. Fished Bemidji in the late afternoon and evening. One follow and a ton of pike. The pike would just hammer the wood (ERC/Burt/Manta). Lots of rain and we got drenched. Sunday fished for a couple of hours before the rain chased us away. One pike to show for.

Went to Lake Waconia with Waltinader and another buddy. Went out at 5am. Waltinader stayed with til 8am. while he was with we had 2 follows. After he left we had 5 more follows. It was fun, until we had to race back to the landing before it began to down pour.

First time I went out Musky fishing and I fished my butt off and Zero fish. Went out to Baby lake in Hakensack Thur-Fri-Sat and I had 11 follows and zero bitters. Buddy in my boay had the same numbers. It's cool to see a 35 to 40 inch fish swim up to the boat but frustrating in the same sentence. I'll keep on trying to hook one on and keep a positive mind. I live in the TC metro and was going to try Indy.

Good fishin-

I Have been going out a few times a week, lot of follows and have hooked up with 4 fish, the biggest a 44" and have blown a couple good solid hits and have caught some pike. I'm starting off much better than last year, hopefully it will get better yet.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
