Matt Johnson
Un-plug the cords connecting the battery to the unit. There is a possibility that it will damage your battery over the summer if you don't. The battery charger (digital read-out) seeps a tiny amount of battery when on, and if plugged in it will eventually drain the battery over time. So, make sure all the cords are un-plugged. As far as sending it in for tune-ups, there really isn't a need for that unless there is something wrong with the unit. But, it sounds like you need a new knob, so I would contact MarCum and see what they want you to do about getting that taken care of... [email protected] Another option is to rig your LX-3 up on your boat. A great tool to have at the bow when scouting out breaks, fish holding areas, or any other use a flasher unit can bring. Juan Grande
Ice Pike,I had the exact same problem with my LX3. I took a trip to Red this winter and it was probably my third time out with the unit. I tried to turn it on and the depth knob wouldn't catch and just spun on the metal piece. Just email Marcum and tell them the problem and they'll send you a case number. Put the unit in its original box and tape the case number to the outside of the box. Also include a piece of paper with your name, address, description of the problem, etc. in the box. Then wrap it up and mail it. I got my unit back in a week and a half. They must also do a thorough check because they replaced my transducer which I didn't even know was bad. I was really impressed with their customer service.John
wallydiver
I had the same problem with mine over 2 years ago. I brought it back to the store and they replaced the unit. (Just because it happened right away). A battery shouldn't cost more than 15 or 20 bucks.

jigeye
I had that problem with mine last winter and ended up buying an allen wrench to fit the set screw then just tightned it up and it works fine now. Wasn't easy to find the right size wrench though.
CNY Tim
I fixed my knob permanently. I put a small dot of super glue on the knob and tightened the set screw up with a small allen wrench/set I purchased at ACE hardware. Loc-tite probably would work just as good. so haaad
I also had the same problem with the depth knob. I called Marcum support, and they sent me two extra knobs. My marcum is "maintained" in the summer by riding along in the boat!
