Captain B.R.K
So we know there are thousands of minnow buckets out there that everyone uses. Some of you love those plano style kind and others go with the bread n butter styro-foam buckets! I'm wondering what some of you are using? I'm looking at buying one for the boat so I have one in the front and one in the back. I hate having someone be the minnow guy so I'm trying to be the nice guy in doing everyone a favor! montanagriz
Captain,I'm not sure what kind of boat you have, but you might want to check out those new mesh minnow bags with the piece of foam in them. You just fill up your livewell and float your minnows in there. Then just rip open the velcro center when you want to grab a minnow and you don't have to dig your hands in that freezing early season water. I saw Al Lindner using one on Angling Edge a few weeks ago so I decided to get one and it has worked just great so far. I picked mine up at Fleet Farm. Rip_Some_Lip
I second that! I found one at the bargain cave in Cabelas and got it about $10 off and I love it.
doser
I think they are called bait tammers. I have used the leech tammers and they are the cats arse. I want to get the one for minnows . Buddy says he has one and loves it.
Shorelunch
Yep the Bait Tamers (mesh minnow buckets) are nice to use. I'm curious how those Frabill buckets work with the oxygen pump. The nice thing with the mesh bag though, is that it's out of the way.
Ole #1
I use a lot of shiners earl;y in the season and I like to use the yellow flow through minnow bucket. I keep it in the water as much as possible, those shiners like to die easy and cold water help them live longer.Ole
SCUMFROG
I use the one thats a bucket and you take the inside out and put that part in the water. I've also found that if you put a rock in it and tie on about a 3 foot rope, it'll sink down to the colder water and out of the sun. And the minnows last all weekend. Cheif Catchemall
i bought a Frabill minnow box with the airator and I LOVE IT!!! in the winter i mostly fish on the weekends and i kept 2 scoops of perch bait alive for over 3 weeks with only about 5 dead ones in that span. 1/2hr air morning and night. you should keep it in the firdge if the wife lets you. Also is shuts like a tackle box for when your moving across the ice or open water.

BillP
I mostly stillfish or float so my choice is the old fashoned metal bucket. I put the liner over the side and fill the bucket with fresh water and scoop only enough minnows so they stay healthy. It's just too much trouble getting minnows out of the liner each time. If I did a lot of troling, I would probibly use one of those plastic troling buckets and bring along another bucket for in the boat.
Captain B.R.K
Humm...decisions here on the bait buckets. I'll take a look at the bait tamers you are talking about. I know exactly what they are, just don't know if I want to open up my live well every 5 minutes.
YakHead
The bait tamer is the only way to go.
