Guest
No need to blame anyone as that is the nature of the beast.plate racing sucks.Crashes are the race,as everyone pushes the limit a little to much.
eyepatrol
Well, I've probably said more than what I should have on this post. I didn't mean to ruffle feathers too much, but I was a bit discerned when I read a post saying that Johnson wrecked a lot of cars to help his teammate win. I just didn't think that was right. My apologies for getting heated up. Usually I don't. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next race. I look forward to every race and enjoy watching them all, even if my favorite driver (Gordon) wins or gets wrecked. Anyone have thoughts on NASCAR adding more races to the season? Good or bad idea? Being a big fan, I'd of course like to see more races, but understand that those guys need some "down time" also. Four more races would be nice to see...add one more month to the schedule.Any thoughts?
JohnMickish
I am lucky and get 4 weeks off a year, why can't those guys do the same? I'll bet if you added up the hours that you, me or any other full time person has and compare that to the drivers we have more. The crew cheifs put in more but thats part of the job.Add more races! iffwalleyes
I think the real blind people are the ones that don't think the 48 cause both of the big wrecks yesterday. I like many at first thought JR. caused the first but like said after watching the replays he never hit Wallace he was right there on the bumper but he never hit him. The 48 slapped Wallace and up the wall he went. Then the 48 hits the wall and caused the last wreck. When the interviewed him and asked him what happend he said something like he didn't know and blamed everyone else for sliding up the track. Then they asked if he hit the wall and he denined it then they showed him a replay then he found someone else to blame. I was starting to like Jimmie but that is changing. I will stick with JR. walleyeking#8
Replays don't lie, and I don't think the other nascar drivers do either. Johnson definately caused both crashes. But I don't think he did it to help his teammate.
Uncle Bill
Couple a tings here:Mnfishingguy, I have been to both Kansas and Talladega races. Kansas is nice track but cannot hold a candle to the excitement of a live Talladega (or Daytona) race. Also, Little "E" now blames J.J. for the wreck. Called him an "(Contact US Regarding This Word)". I am not a fan of either. The way I see it lil "E' was bump drafting going into turn two. In the drivers meeting the drivers were told to bump draft ONLY on the backstretch (after turn two). Therefore, he bears some responsibility for the wreck. Mabey a guilty conscience, or just sour grapes coming from "E". Also, I am not a fan of Gordon but he did one hell of a job driving that car. For anyone to say the car won the race without a (great?) driver is juvenile.Go #17 !!
outdoor ran
How the heck did JJ start the second crash? Waltrip hit the # 42 plain has day and it slowed him down causing his teammates to check up and thats what caused it.
lawdog
That's what the broadcasters on PRN or MRN (whichever it was) said about crash #2 also. Bottom line, there was probably multiple causes to both crashes. Earnhardt is supposedly infallible though and a "plate guru" so no one would ever admit any issues with DEI there.By the way, that's 4 out of the last 5 for Gordon and he's only oney career plate win away from Sr.'s record so who's the best plate driver really?????? 24 all the way!!!!!!! JohnMickish
Uncle Bill, I'm not saying that the plate races aren't exciting, cuz they are, but I'm not sure what makes them exciting? Is it that fact that people are moving forward and backward all the time or is it that there could be the big one at any time? A little of both I think.I have only been to one race, Michigan in 1996. It was fun and I'm glad I did it but the atmosphere was much more exciting than the actual race. Much like football, racing is better seen on tv, but the experience can only be had by being there. LMITOUT
Junior has 5 wins at Dega and Gordo has 4. No king crowning yet boys. Johnson caused both wrecks and I'm glad some others see it the same way. It was pretty evident. There is a good article from May 3rd about the blame game on Yahoo's NASCAR page. Pretty much sums it up! As far as I'm concerned, the #24 was a tough car on Sunday. But I really didn't see a lot of driving that he needed to do. With these rules packages and how the car was performing, he basically had it on cruise control. Not much talent there. I think the real driving was done behind him trying to jockey for position to catch the #24. Waltrip and Stewart paired up on the last lap and Stewart said he couldn't catch him with Waltrip pushing. Not that Gordo was blocking, the car was just that stout. I'll give credit to the car, it was set up well. The pit crew did a good job for him as always and fixed changed his flat spotted tire after he locked them up coming into the pits.
walleyeking#8
Apparently some of you did not watch the race or the replays. On the second crash,Jimmie Johnson came into the turn way to fast and bounced off the wall into another car which turned truex into junior and all ---- broke loose. Look at it like you want to, but that is what happened. It is now over and we will anticipate the night race at Darlington.

eyepatrol
Gordon had a very strong car, no doubt. But I think he did some exceptional driving. Plate races are delicate. If you don't hit the right line, make the right decision at the right time, you'll get shuffled all the way to the back. No matter how good your car is. One little mistake or misjudgement, and you're hung out to dry. Decision making, risk taking, timing...that's all driver related.JMO though. eyepatrol
rappin jack....I believe Sifty made a point after the Daytona 500 that references to sexual content should not be made....besides, it's in the forum policy.Like Gordon or not, sexual references shouldn't be posted on here. It's bad taste.

Gordon 10 plate wins in 13 years of Cup Jr. 7 plate wins in 5 years of Cup So by that math, Jr should have 18 plate wins by his 13th year. OK, I think we beat this one to death. I need to get out fishing! Is the season open yet????? Nothing like some friendly bickering about their favorite drivers. It's good to see that no name-calling or personal attacks develop in these posts and we can have a discussion where we can agree to disagree and give each other a bad time. Just like at the track, rubbin' is racin', and it's fun to rub a little on the forums too. Just as long as we don't put each other into the wall!
