Dicks sporting goods?

Anybody been in the store since it changed hands? What is their logo anyways? Does it have as good a selection as Galyons?

Dick's is not as good as Galyans as far as the quality and assortment. They are more of the golfing, running, basketball end of things. As far as their brand, their house names are Quest and Northeast Outfitters (or is it Northwest), they are not much to be desired for.

The one time I went in I noticed it was not as crowded with merchandise. Lots of space between the racks.

I don't like it as much as galyans. But when I went there I got some lures on sale kinda like galyans used to have there big bargain bins. Wish they wouldn't ahve changed though...

I stopped at the Richfield Dick's on Saturday after Gander in Lakeville and Woodbury. To me, it didn't seem much different than Galyan's although I had never shopped at Galyan's all that regularly. They still had a ton of Galyan's brand products, most of which were on sale. I have to say the rod selection at Dick's was WAY better than the selection at any of the Ganders I was at (the two mentioned above plus Minnetonka). Yeah, I spent a good 6 hours shopping for fishing stuff on Saturday. It was a fun 6 hours though!

I don't see the quality or the brands that a Galyans had in the clothes and fishing equipment. Unless you are a golfer, this change is not good. Gander is the new fishing headquarters for me and Cabela's if I have time to drive down to Owatonna.

yes it is true they broke the ground on the location awhile ago i cant wait till it opens but i am always down in faribult seeing my family so im right down the road from there almost every weekend but it will be nice for the quick fix during the week.

They have most of the outer walls and rock pillar's constructed. I just love to see all the new progress each time I drive by on I-94. Will be this fall sometime though a date hasn't been determined yet.

Thanks for the info, I don't usually get over that way so I've haven't seen any construction. Can't wait til its open. Otherwise its too much of a haul to just up and decide to go without advanced planning, at least from here.

The marketing consultants don't beat around the bush. They feel Dick's has tremendous potential for growth. Not my kind of store, but to each his own.
