Deitz Dittrich
There was a good question in the metro forum about sightfishing and which lakes are good for it. I thought we could discuss this inthe main forum as well... Its beginning to be the time of year when sightfishing can be awesome, However, I get a sore back quite quickly aslways looking straight down the hole. Also, a lakes water clarity comes into play as well. You can improve your odds, see the fish better, and not get the sore back by using an underwater camera. Now affordable with the introduction ofthe Aqua-Vu Scout at only $200 By using underwater cameras you get rid of the surface killing glare that makes it hard to see in the water, often times your camera only needs to be a foot or 2 under the ice, but even that makes it so much easier to see. Also, using the camera in down view often times you are able to see a larger area than if you were just to look down the hole... Give it a shot during this late ice peroid! Dan Thiem
I would also like to say what a great unit this really is. My younger brother bought one and I have been using it with him all winter long. The thing has worked perfect with no troubles at all! It has definatley got us both on to more fish than without one. Deitz Dittrich
They sold a ton of these units the winter.. way more than they expected so keeping up with anglers needs has been difficult. Many places were sold out quite quickly. I do believe that they shipped out another 15,000 units to different stores lately, so if you were looking and could not find one.. try again now!... LOWinEYEin
I don't leave home without it! This is definately worth the $200. It saves you valuable fishing time locating the keepable fish. You will also learn a ton of new presentations that you will find to very effective. The only downside is that they don't work after dark. Not even with the IR lighting. They may work if you have it set up really close to your bait, but then you will have to deal with the tangling and untangling. All in all its definately worth it!! Lynno62
I have a guestion guys/gals. was it ever a law that you could not use a camera when fishing? I thought about 6 years ago some friends were fishing out of a ice house and had the camera set up out side, as it was against the law to have the camera set up where you were fishing at? Or did i just misunderstand them? Interested in the camera show above. thanks again for all your wonderful help.
Deitz Dittrich
Lynno- there was talk when the cameras first came out that it would make fishing way too easy and that it would have a detriment to our fishing in our state. After doing some studies, they reaslised, that fish are fish and if they dont want to eat, they won't... There is no law and never has been a law against the use of underwater cameras.Take a strong look at the scout, at that price, its really only the price of a decent rod and reel combo. Lynno62
Thanks, I was thinking along those lines, just because you see them you can not make them bit. Yes i will check that camera out. I have the vex FL8 something, but a camera would be nice. Thanks again. Lynn
Yukon Don
Deitz,Have you had trouble with the unit spinning and constantly having to keep it turned toward your bait. I don't own one but I have heard this being asked. How do you hang yours, right off the unit?thanks in advance, Yukon Don

Deitz Dittrich
Yukon- A great investment is the Aqua-Vu IcePod This will hold the unit at the depth you want it at and then also keep the unit from spinning. You can pick them upmost places that sell the aqua-vu units for about $15... Well worth the investment!

Deitz Dittrich
The MOPOD2 is a moterised camera holding unit with a key chain type remote. You can then spin the camera to point in the direction that you want. IT is quite slick. It also comes with its own carrying case!
Deitz Dittrich
Also, for those who are unaware of how to rig your camera in DownView mode, this picture shows you how. It really is just like looking down your hole without getting a sore back.
