GREAT StrikeMaster service!!!

Iceseeker

Question

I was drilling some holes last weekend and the auger stopped spinning. When I got home I checked the gear case and found nothing wrong. I called SrikeMaster (Cy) and explained the situation, his comment was bring it in and let's check it out. I brought it in on Friday and 20 minutes later it was back in operation. The shaft on the clutch housing broke. I asked about the charges and he said No Way, that should not happen. This would not surprise me if the auger was a couple of years old but mine is 6 years old.

Nothing but StrikeMaster in my future. Thanks Cy....

I stopped by the Strikemaster warehouse in Big Lake and told them that my 6 year old auger was running rough. The kid told me I needed a carb rebuild and that is about 40 bucks. I told him to go ahead he did the work as I stood there and waited (I was on my way to the lake) he was finishing up when his supervisor came around the corner just as he snapped off one of the screws in the body of the engine. He was using an air driver to tighten the screws. His supervisor shook his head and walked over to a brand new unit pulled it out of the box filled 'er with gas started it up, killed it and handed it to me and said no charge I was stunned....

I have also had a good experience with their customer service! I bought one of their electrice augers to use in my perminant house.(no fumes or smoke ) It worked great, but then the auger started to seem a little loose where it was connected to the power head. I brought it to them. They fixed it on the spot. They said they have had some problems with the switches on it (I have noticed that they have changed switches since then), but they gave me some extra switches and enough for a few friends that have the same auger. (I have not had any problems with the switch though) They also gave me an extra set of blades and an extension for it. I can't complain a bit about their customer service. They said that if I have any more problems to come back and they will fix me up again. Their service was Top notch im my book!

I might as well pipe in here also.

I have an old Strikemaster XL3000. Been a great auger. One day while re-opening old holes in the fish house it started to jump around quite a bit. So I took it outside and tried it on new ice. Same thing.

So I called the company in Big Lake and they said try new blades, if that don't work I may have a bent carriage or something like that. They were very helpful and got my new blades in the mail. That was it, worked like new again.

I would recommend their service to anyone.

I just bought a 4 year old Strikemaster Mag2000 from a guy for $125. It seems to be in pretty good shape except for 2 things. First, the on/off switch is busted off. I am pretty sure this is an easy fix as a hardware store I know of will fix it for $20. Can I order the part from Strikemaster to fix it myself? If so, how do I order it? Second, when I drilled holes Friday night it took what I thought was a little long to drill a hole. I have used a buddy's Mag2000 and his drills much faster. It's the chipper blade which is basically brand new. The pointed part that sticks down is a little rusty. Would sharpening that part help or is there possibly something else wrong with it? I should say I didn't properly idle it either. I started it and pretty much drilled right away. Would that have made a big difference? Thanks for any input. What are the chances Strikemaster will give me a new unit if I go to the factory?

jeffyo45,

What I think I would do is either give them a call or email them the same questions you asked here. I don't know about giving you a new one, but I am sure that they will be able help somehow. I called them first about my electric one and they had me bring it to them and they fixed it up while I was there. The guy that helped me also gave me a little tour of the shop. It was pretty neat.

I had a 15 y/o Mag III. I tore the tranny out of it. I brought the pieces of it to SM so I could match them up to BUY some new gears. They not only installed the gears, but GAVE them to me also. SM customer for life. I have since bought a Lazer, and love it too.

I told this story before but here goes... My #3 son bought a Strikemaster auger at an estate sale. It was made in the early to mid 70's and had never been run. It had two extra auger shafts still in the boxes and he had paid about forty bucks for it. When I called their service center, they transfered me to the company president who said he would be interested in buying it. When I showed up with the auger, the service center stopped working and gathered around it. When I came back in with the two auger shafts still in the boxes it was like I had walked in with the holy grail. Bargaining took 30 seconds. I walked out with a 3 horse Lazer and an extention and they had the old one hanging on the wall before I left. My son was happy, they were verrrry happy, it was a win/win deal. I like those people. smile.gifsmile.gif

I bought a new Eskimo stingray not a week ago and had problems with it, I went to Gander and exchanged the powerhead, and 12 holes later had the same problems. Frustrated I called D-Rock and the guy explained to me what was probably wrong and how he had seen a lot of the stingrays come back this year. Long story short I returned the stingray to Gander and went straight to D-Rock and got a lazer mag express for 270, and man does it run nice. I am very happy with my strikemaster and even more happy with the customer service D-Rock showed me, the guy took me out and explained all about the auger to me, he really cared about selling me a good product. Needless to say I will be back anytime I need an auger item, and I am now a strikemaster guy... grin.gif

After twice going to StrikeMaster, and each time having them 'tweek' something on my auger to fix the problem with it, I discovered that it was still doing the same thing, jamming about 10" into the cut! Well, this time Cy gave me a new drill shaft for my old one. I will be trying this on Sunday and I hope this fixes the problem. I have always had GREAT customer service from StrikeMaster, and I will stay a lifelong customer, and I know they will do their best to fix any/all problems with their products. Not only do they give you great customer service, but they are also very knowledgeable and customer friendly.
