Got to meet Michael Bennet this weekend.

What a great guy. He was making an appearance in Monticello for some kind of a charity fundraiser. We were all packed in this tiny bar and he was right in there with everyone elbow to elbow. Allways had a big smile and autograph for whoever. I realizethat when you just finished a season like he had its probably not hard to be too humble but he was genuine...I bet he would have been the same if he had just finished a pro bowl type year. and he still is a highly paid pro athlete and you would of never known it by the way he was. I told him I hope he has a better year next year and he siad he doesnt think he will be a Viking next year. I asked him if he was going to try to get the Vikes to deal him to Arizona as he is one of the guys Denny drafted and he said he had no idea where he will end up.. It is really a business on that end...he wants to stay here and after meeting him I would allways want a guy like him on my team. Im afraid though that he has too much class for the team we have now........he must not fit in.

I have met Bennett before also and my experience was the same. He was working a booth at one of the sports shows and had time for everyone who came. This was after his Pro Bowl year. He is a genuine guy. I agree it is hard to keep 3 good backs when you are short on defense but he does have a quality many pro athletes do not have anymore.

Talent wise i think your right Bennet is the best but i have a feeling he will turn out to be another Robert Smith, all the talent in the world but injury prone, Moore has lots of potential and so does Smith, i think if they can trade Bennet and get a D-back for him they should do it, or better yet make one of those guys into a D-back grin.gif j/k It would really be a shame to see Bennet leave though he is a classy guy, at training camp he always stops to sign autographs for people, he is a player that still enjoys the game of football, it is still a game to him, not a job.

I just want to clarify what I said above. I wouldn't have the slightest problem with them keeping Bennet and trading O. Smith. Either would work. Moore we know they'll keep since he's by far the cheapest so I don't think he's on the table.

My only thought is we can't keep all these guys and STILL have no D. I think Bennet has game and even Robert Smith after he got over those early injuries became fairly durable. Bennett could too, who knows. I really somehow think he's the one who's the odd man out though... O. Smith may have more upside potential.

Bennett is very fast, and that gives him big play potential. His speed is pretty much his only attribute, though, IMO. I have always thought he looks more like a track guy playing football rather than a football player with track-quality speed(if that makes sense to ya). He is very similar to Robert Smith in that way, and that is partly why they both had/have trouble staying healthy. Guys like that tend to run a little differently than your average RB.

Onterrio, IMO, is the most complete RB on the team. He has the size and strengh to get the important yards-after-contact, and he has the moves and enough speed to break away for big gains, too. I believe that he(though still learning) is a better blocker than all but Moe, too.

I think Bennett would generate more interest (at this point) and the Vikes could get the most back for him. Not sure what that would be, but I agree with what many have said regarding moving one or more of the backs to get some help on the other side of the ball. My $0.02
