vikingmeatwad
The only thing I would be worried about besides being too sore to fish the next day is proper ventilation and the heater. Make sure to have a heater with a oxygen depletion sensor like the buddy or another. With a heater cooker it could eat up all the oxygen and you may not wake up.Be careful and good luck! Fishn'Lady
This is what we sleep in during our trips to Upper Red Lake. We have a CO detector and have the house vented well since we run a Mr. Heater/Cooker for heat. Just make sure that you have the proper reflectors on each side of the house for overnight stays. M.T. Bucket
Maybe it's just me, but I think I'd have TWO CO detectors if I ever slept in a portable.
bwtrout
Any propane stove ,that is not a vented stove, in a small space is dangerous for sleeping. Mr. Heater Buddy's are not safe for sleeping (as stated in the instructions) and Mr. Heater sunflower stlyes are not the slightest bit safe for sleeping (a thermocouple is the only shut off feature and they can burn dirty often, do some searching on the equipment forum and on this one for more details) Even having lots of vents, windows or zippers open is not a sure bet. It only takes one unlucky night to not wake up. If you want to sleep in a portable research winter camping methods and rough it. You can fire up the Propane in the A.M. anyfishwilldo
We have a portable 8x8, and sleep in it all the time. I just use a heater/cooker, and another sunflower as a backup, with a CO monitor. Never had any problems.
efgh
I would not sleep in a fish house over nite that was heated with either a Mr. heater or a sunflower, I have seen too many close calls with a sunflower. If I hadn;t decided to check on my father-in-law one afernoon when I did I would have been father-in-law-less, I also saw a sunflower blow while a friend was lighting it, he only lost a little hair, but it made a beleiver out of him. fishermn
Get a good sleeping bag (and pad), turn the heaters off and put them outside and you should be OK. Also make sure you have some venting to let fresh air in. Its a bit chilly for a while in the morning, but not so bad unless its -20 or colder... YakHead
I would not trust the Mr. Heater/ cooker, I just bought a new one and ran it in my garage for about a hour on medium. Then it started shooting flames out the back, lucky I was out there when it happened. I returned it and wont buy one again. So be careful with them in a fish house.
