Osceola Power Eqpt. 49cc auger..any info??

My dad just picked up a 49cc power (Mag III I think) auger made by OPE. I think I may have paid a little to much ($150)....but oh well it is from a hunting friend of ours. I have a few questions...

When was the last time these were made, or are they still?

Also...the thing has not been used very much and looks brand new (the guy takes very good care of things and works on small engines)....anyone know what to expect or if this is a decent power auger. I have searched but not been able to find much info. I though it was a Jiffy I was buying but my dad called after getting home and said it was an OPE...

I can't pick it up until next week...but I am eager to get it out as I am sick of drilling holes by hand!!!

Hemi, You have a good auger and its a Strikemaster. Parts are easily obtainable.

You got a great deal on it, they can go for almost $200 on hsolist. I have that one and also the strikemaster. In operation they are the same the only difference is the muffler and the gas tank.

I had the same one, but sadly had to replace it last year for a lazer. The only problems I had with it were the throttle cable got gummed up and was prone to freezing, and I tore the tranny out of it. I had the auger for 15 years, and Strikemaster warrantied my tranny. You will like it.

I have one of the OPE's, picked it up at an auction for 75 bucks about 7 years ago and have never had a problem. This year I went to Strikemaster and picked up the 2 blade Lazer Drill for the OPE power head, man that thing cuts fast.

You will like the auger but you will probably be mad when you find out I paid only $20 for mine. After adding a new used tank from D-Rock it works great. I paid $30 for the tank so for a total of $50 I have a good auger. The guy at D-Rock said they have the best gear case of all the augers.

I picked my my OPE up at an auction in St. Cloud. $25 as is and when I got it home fired off on 3 pulls. It was on a Sheriff's auction. Bought it for the bit.
