I am laid up this winter with a bad back, just got out of the hosp. again, artritise of the spine. Wondering if any other die hard fisher persons are on the same ice, joke. I am glad to read all the posts of sucessful ice trips, makes the day shorter, good fishing leave some for me. wink.gif

Well let's just say I know where you are coming from. I had surgery on my foot last Feb. They cut the bone moved some things around and screwed it back together, 7 weeks sitting with my butt on the couch and my foot in the air. Hard to keeps ones sanity crazy.gif Still have the other foot to do and just can't bring myself to have it done yet. Was gonna do it this winter and chickened out, not the pain, it is the shear boredom.

Hope you back heals and you can get out and enjoy the outdoors soon.

Oh, yea! Same ugly stuff in the lower back. I did something to it the day after deer season ended and have been fighting it since. This is the longest stretch I've had to fight it, but it is slowly getting back to par. Ain't no fun!

I learned that I have a bulging disc in my neck. Hasn't been a fun 5 months, but massage therapy and then physical therapy have helped me to feel almost normal lately. My advice to anyone is see a specialist right away. I spent 4 weeks seeing my family doctor who couldn't figure anything out. A neurologist had it figured out in about 4 minutes then confirmed it with an MRI.

Hope your back gets better soon.

(Contact US Regarding This Word),I'm in the same boat as you. I had my foot straightened and screwed together Dec.9 and been on my butt and on crutches ever since.I've got 3 more weeks in the cast, then a walking boot for 3-4 weeks. It really sucks, but it ain't no fun when you can't walk w/o pain, either. I had the worst foot done first, and may try to put the other one off for a couple years. Don't wanna miss ice fishing 2 years in a row. At least we can read about it!

Reading about Ice fishing on this site and some of the banter that goes on between fellow F.M.s is the next best thing to going fishing if you have a active mind. liked that story about the car going 77 and the fish house 35. keep up the posting fellows. cool.gif

Last feb 8th I had back surgery and it was real similar. Check this site every couple hrs to see what's new. Could only sit for 15-20 min at a time. It sure does put a cramp in icin.

Take care and hope ya get on the ice soon.

efgh, I bet if I could find where you live, there may be a small bag of fish on your doorstep. smile.gif I know that would always put a smile on my face, cause a couple of years ago someone did it for me, when I had neck surgery and I think it about time to repay the deed. cool.gif

psegriz...Was it lower back surgery, and if so, how long were you laid up/ If it was lower back, did the operation help?

The reason I ask, is because I have lower back problems big time and I do believe it will come down to the knife at some point, because of my line of work.

I know what you mean, I had broken my back, broke my neck, collapsed a lung, and bruised my brain on Oct 28 2004. Then I had surgery on my neck on Dec 11 2004 and now I have a 5 lbs max lifting weight so I guess I cant fish for anything over 5 lbs. the plus is that I am still alive and kicking and will be able to hunt and fish in the near furture
