Opinions wanted! Best all around fishing prices...

I have checked prices on stuff at lots of different places and in my opinion its about the same. One thing will cost more at one place and another thing will more at the other.

Personaly, If I don't order something online from Cabela's or even here at FM, I typically go to Gander. They have more staff, and more knowledgable staff that can answer my questions if I have any.

I generally trey to get things from GM where I live....I know the staff there. FlettFarm is too hectic, but maybe a bit cheaper. Galyans was a TC favorite of mine but was replaced with the sportmans warehouse. Not going to save much money there but they have everything and I do mean everything. Cabelas has lost some of it's allure for me as far as buying goes, but I still enjoy the trip over to look.

If you are seriously looking for tackle, say plastics, you should be looking at some of the magazine ads for sources. I found one on a fluke that I get all of my plastics, except for Culprit paddletails, from and for MUCH , MUCH, MUCH less than any store can offer them. I am not talking of some knock-off of southern pro here, I am talking the real McCoy! I can buy tubes and stingers in the 100 packs for chump money and I don't have to spend more than five bucks ever for postage! But this is open water tackle.

Much of the tackle for the ice season is available right here if you shop on-line. Good sponsors, good prices and good service too. Some of the sponsors have stores local to the Twin Cities, others further north. Shop around, the world is full of tackle right now.

Prices ? It's hard to tell, some more some less. When ya go fishin stop by a bait shop maybe 2 if time allows just to browse. If ya need something then buy it and if not then don't unless ya find a real good deal. If it's really good then buy a bunch if ya know your going to use them. Personally I got enough stuff that I stop and pick up something new if I want to try something different. If it don't out produce the old standbys then I don't get anymore but I don't go price shopping either. I'm not going to buy enough to pay gas to drive a block out of my way.

I try to buy as much as possible from the local bait shops, as long as it is not a high dollar item. You will be surprised on what deals they will give if you ask "whats your bottom dollar." My opinion and mine only, i do as much business as I can there cuz i would hate to have to buy my stuff at a gas station if the bait shops go under.

I'm with mjgrose. I like to buy from the local guys (local bait shop and the local True Value)...they don't always have the wide selection, but they will order anything you want and usually can get it in a day or two. They're the folks who pay the local taxes, etc...keep it local.

I try to buy any high $ item at cabelas for their no questions asked guarantee, even it costs a little more that alone is worth it.

The Fleet Boutique is a good place for common day gear. Specialty items and warm clothing I would go elsewhere. Its a great place though.I guy came buy underware, socks, jeans, flannel shirts. What a place!A sportmans mall.
