spitz31
I have an old canvas suitcase-style fish house I inherited from my dad, and our last name and hometown are printed on the outside. Now that I register it in my name, is it necessary to have my current hometown displayed, and do I need to have my driver's license number displayed? I have read the MN regs on this subject, and they don't seem quite clear.
iffwalleyes
Either Or. You can use either you drivers license number by itself. Of you can use you name and address on the house. Most people have just been putting the license number on the outside that is the easiest. The lettering or numbers are suppose to be 2" high in clearly visable letters. Duffer
i have found its the easyiest to put your dnr # on it is short and contains only numbers much shorter than your dl #. just my 2 cents
iffwalleyes
I never knew you could you your DNR number. Ya that would be way easier and way shorter.
Duffer
yes it says dnr number in the fishing regulation book it lists name and address, dl #, or DNR #.
FZ
but, does DNR # change every year when you buy the lic.?
MnIceman
Your DNR # is the same every year . I like the new regulation allowing you to use your DNR#. I don't like putting my name and address or drivers license number out there for someone to steal and mess with your credit. All 3 of my shacks are going to display my DNR# this season. PikeTipper
Just to clarify, you only need your DNR # and not your name AND DNR #?
iffwalleyes
Correct they way the regulation is written it says you just need to have one of the 3.
mnfish
I just got a portable house. Do I need to register it somewhere or just put my # on the outside?
loebs93
You need to put that number on there and you need a shelter tag which can be picked up at the same place you get your fishing and hunting licenses.
SteveWilson
In Minnesota you need to register with the DNR to get a sticker for it; $12.50 .
John19
I can't believe you have to register portables there at all. John
loebs93
Yeah thats true. I'm not sure if its legal, but a lot of people just buy one and transfer it from house to house. As long as they pull the house off the ice at the end of the day I dont see anything wrong with it.
Duffer
that is leagal u only have to have a permit on the house u are in.
Dave
I don't believe you even need the license ON the house if it's not in use, even if it's on the lake; just your ID number.
