Trapping for Beginners

If you can find a local trapper to take you along and show how he operates, that would be ideal.

Joining the Minnesota Trappers Assn is another great resource for learning, and I believe that will get you a subscription to the Trapper and Predator caller. This is an excellent publication, with many places to order books and videos from. You may be able to purchase some back issues also. I have learned tons from this magazine over the years.

In the summer months, the MTA has a convention with many demonstrations for you to take in, and lots of seasoned trappers will gladly answer your questions.

Join the Minnesota Trappers Assoc. Mandatory trapper education is going to start I think this summer. It's for all who have never bought a license before. It will be required by the state of Minnesota. YOu will learn alot. The top trappers in the state will be helping.

Where are you from? I may know a trapper in your area you could contact. I know many all over the state.

Welcome to Fishing MN. wink.gif

Thanks for the advice. I think I will probably look into the Minnesota Trappers Association. I am currently going to school in duluth, but will be going home near elk river at the end of next week for a month. Thanks again for all the help.
