rod bender
I used a silicon spray and it worked great. Did it twice last year and that's all it took. Slides like a trombone.
irvingdog
Blakemore's Reel Magic. I spray it on the portable poles. My line. Line guides. It untangles and softens rubber skirts. It's like Sea-foam for fishing tackle. I can't tell you how or why, but it works wonders!
magicstix
i've just used silicone once a year and periodically clean with steel wool or 1200 grit paper, wipe with laquer thinner or something that leaves no residue, and spray with silicone. i may try TriFlo these year. good luck. Ed Carlson
If the poles are binding up badly it is often a case of the frame being out of square. Try a large carpenters square and check to see if the frame is boxing up nice and square. Often they get bent in the wind or in transit and start to cause set-up and take-down problems. An easy tweak to get them back into square often cures most problems. Then add a shot of your favorite slippery stuff to lube the tubes. Silicon spray is a good bet. Be sure and wipe off excess to keep it off your gear.
CRAPPIEBAIT
Remington makes a spray called "Rem-Dri" spray it on and it evaporates.Careful though,if you get a little excited like I tend to,it might not be a good idea.
Guest
All my poles are straight just wanted to keep them smooth. Tried the silicone and it seems to help slide smoother. Thanks Tom
DrKen
Just did mine with auto wax. Cleaned them with mothers wadding and then waxed them. So far, so good. Goes up and down easy.
Fergus Mor McErc
Right before the ice season I set my house up in the basement, steel wool all the poles then use silicon spray on them. The poles have always glided nice and easy from this treatment.
