Speaking of 35 days away...why does the season start on the 18th instead of the 12th? I never could figure out that one! Doesn't the DNR know that we bowhunters have an uncontrollable fever. Especially with the weather the last few days....kind of gets you in the mood smile.gif

i hear you about this weather man. Tuesday night when it was so cold I told my wife I needed to be on stand by 6:15pm. She just rolled her eyes, pretty much the desired response. I think it's actually 36 days & some hours, way, way, too long to wait. Maybe if I go put out my camera again & hang another portable it will calm me down... Not going to happen, but better try it anyway.

There is no cure for it Bigbucks.....until the 18th then the doctor will come! Went and shot the local 3-D course last night...kind of got me in the mood. (like I needed to get into the mood) Should be an awesome season...even better that in November I finally get to go after the bucks in Montana's Milk River area. I am so jacked for that hunt....big bucks and lots of them....man, who is the cruel person that started this thread smile.gif

Hey Extreme, give us some details about your hunt, I am very interested. Are you using a guide or going on your own? What sort of expense are you looking at. Any information would be great!

My hunt in Montana goes as follows. For the past 2 years we have applied for Combination buck tags in Montana. We were unsuccessful on the drawings but we purchased over the counter doe tags and hunted/scouted some Block Management areas. In a simple word..."AWESOME". Lots of deer and lots of very very nice bucks. Gravy hunting compared to the north country of Minn. Anyway you have to apply before March 15th and the general permit is $350 or so with bonus point. We did draw this year, so you can see why I am so stoked to go. 2 years of scouting and not being able to shoot 150 inch bucks is tough....real tough. The community is great and finding land is a snap. Montana has set up "block mgmt" areas with landowners...they pay the landowners for you to hunt on their land; at no cost to you. If you need more info...let me know! Can't wait!!!

Went up to gregersons in baldwin today, got to looking at the muzzle loaders and boy does that get a person thinking. I could hunt for about 4 months straight, that is when I take up bow hunting also. Oh yeah and it was me who started the thread, it was kind of like venting in a positive way tongue.gif

Well,
I just picked up some film from a trail camera.
After going through about 20 pictures of my food plot, with no deer in sight I was kinda bummed. No clue what caused a bunch of pictures of plants. Maybe the wind. All of them looked like this.

THEN I CAME ACROSS THIS GUY

It's tought to tell, but I think I can safely say he is 11pts. Looks like 6 on the right side.

Are we almost there yet????

Biglake ba$$,

Maybe the film was being tripped by birds going after bugs and things in the plantings. They might be fast enough to trip it and get out of the angle or land in the grass when the picture was taken. maybe rabbits or woodchucks crawling around?

Nice buck and food plots.

biglake -

Nice pic of the buck.

I had similar problems with pictures just seeming to be taken with nothing in sight. I was told that it had to do with the sun coming up or down if it faces directly into the sun. ( even when it was in woods where the sun barely peaked through) Never had it happen again since I now face it slighty off.

Mine isn't out right now, but I've gotten some of those before as well. I need to get it out again, just haven't wanted to take the time away from gettting the prehunting season projects done, so I can enjoy hunting.
