Since the local duck hunting has been so poor lately. On Friday morning, I decided to try to get a bird for my son. Trail cameras have shown birds in the area so we simply put up a ground blind into a secluded out of the wind field corner. We put out 2 hen decoys and waited for first light. We thought we could here turkeys in the trees but it was pretty windy. About 7:45 we definitely heard turkey clucks coming in behind us in the woods. I told Jack to get ready and pointed to the trail I thought they would come walk out on. Pretty soon one flies into the field, then another, then another... Not sure where they were but 9 young Jakes flew in and all  landed within 30 yards. It was pretty cool. Jack had to wait for them to separate as they all made a beline for the decoys. Finally 1 stepped clear at about 10 yards for point blank shot! Small young Jake, put it in the crockpot for the afternoon, made for an amazing dinner!
