bigeyes
down 11% statewide as per outdoor news last weeks issue. Down 17% in the northeast where I do a lot of hunting. Sorry guys I want it to be a good year as bad as you guys do but, that doesn't seem to be the case.
duckbuster
unfortunately that is what I've been reading as well bigeyes. I to would like it to come back and eventually it will, I guess we'll just have to be patient.
BDR
Are those percentages down from last year or down from the average?------------------I'd rather be skunked than follow the crowd!Brian Rogers JR's TackleCatch-N Tackle and Bio Bait
bigeyes
BDR- My understanding is that they are down 11 state wide from the number of drumms they heard last year.
Riverratpete
I think they (DNR) are off on their count. The weather was pretty bad the month of May and 1st part of June. There are so many variables involved, I was up in NC Minnesota the past weekend in the area I hunt and everyones saying how they have been seeing more birds this spring...so who knows, but I wouldn't go selling the dog and gun at this point. protrapper
Never buy into them counts. I spend alot of time in the woods year round. And I have seen more birds this spring then the last few years. And there was lots of drumming going on this spring. Saw lots of birds this winter also.
ironmike
I have to agree on the counts being off. The DNR has basically come out and said that there counts could be off because of the inclimate weather early in the year.
T-ProGuy
I don't buy the drumming count totals either...I have been driving the gravel/logging roads north of Brainerd, and have been seeing tons of birds. Lots of yearling grouse...just big enough to fly. Shot more grouse last year than I ever have, and I hope that this year goes just the same. kingkidfisher4431
I figured they were off on there report...Because i have seen more grouse this spring than any other, and ive heard more! Than plus we shoot a ton more than the last year. But this year im going to get so much time in now that im old enough to drive and hunt by myself! Excited for that i am!!!!The Kid
