    Portable Modification Recap and Pictures!!!

I finished my mods recently... Put a base of plywood in my eskimo quickflip 2 and made 4 cutouts... First is a boxed in cuoutout with one side partially open to slip rods in and store takle, second is a semi round hole that alows this minnowbucket to dang near sit flush with wood, third is a round cutout for my 11 lb propane tank to stand upright it, and fourth is a square boxed in hole that was for my heater but it wont lide in under seat... So i think ill use that one for vex and lunch misc stuff. And finally im in the process of figuring out how to mount my rope lights on the inside of my portable. But all in all it turned out good... What do you all think about me leaving it not carpeted, will it rot??? Any ideas input appreciated!

    Portable Modification Recap and Pictures!!!

I have an Eskimo Quickflip 2 and was thinking on doing some mods to it and was wondering your alls opinion on my ideas... First ive had it for 1 year and know its tough to fish unorganized with everything awstrewed in the sled and second no lighting, having to use a head lamp... What i was thinking of doing is taking some rope lights and hanging them from 2 main beams connecting to a battery for lighting? Then for organization taking plywood for a base on my sled and cutting three holes in it... One for my rods and tackle, another for my bait bucket and a third for 5 lb tank and extra storage of miscellaneous stuff. Enclosing all the holes with plywood and making hinged lids... I guess my main question is how hard is something like this and how much time will i need to put into it for a decent job? Any input or recomendations would be greatly apreciated!

    They're BAAAACK!!!!

Went out yesterday with a roomate and had the best day ive ever had and believe it will be the best day i ever have. I live in ely and decided to travel south quite aways and do some hunting, and boy did it pay off!!!!!! We saw 24 birds in 4 hours and got 8 of them. The numbers of grouse are, as previously stated, up though(i believe)... I feel very fortunate being as young as i am to have had experienced a day like that one that i will remember forever. Good Luck, and Great hunting to all!!!

    16' Canoe w/ 36# Thrust Minn Kota

Thanks guys for the help!! I am now contiplating whether or not i should bring maybe two batteries just in case. And im pretty sure they are those XL 12 volt batteries because they look huge against a standard 12 volt. If i had 2 of those puppy's we ought to be just fine for 3 nights of fishing only in the evening right???

    16' Canoe w/ 36# Thrust Minn Kota

I was wondering about this set up??? Me and a bud are heading to a smaller lake (about 622 acres) with his canoe which is about 16 ft and my 36# Thrust Minn Kota electric Trolling motor. I was wondering what the speed, lasting ability, and reliability, of this set up would be. Is it worth it to bring along or should we just paddle? How about in wind? Etc? Never done it before but i thought it would work. Anybody done this please comment/help in any way...??!!

    Shore Fishing

Me and a buddy are going to be going to a lake in the carlton area and are wondering if i could get some tips for shorefishing bass. The rod i have and line is plenty but i was wondering more about rig/setup for fishing this way. What i was thinking, and let me know if this is wrong, but taking an egg sinker and putting it above a swivel, then putting on a leader, and finnally a hook with a sucker on it. All of this below a slip bobber. Would this rig work? Any other input for fishing bass from shore with live bait rigs would be helpful! Thanks!!!

    Camping Trip

I was wondering what some misc things i should bring with me on a three night camping trip would be. Like when your set up and you say to yourself boy i wish i would have brought that with. Just dont want to forget something little that would come in handy later. We will be fishing/camping on a small lake with only a crapper so any misc items that fit that fit that criteria would be awsome!!! Thanks!

    ? for Newbie

Im looking to go out for first time ice fishing with my friend tommorow and was wondering if anyone could give me some lakes with good crappie/pike combo that are not to big, and easy to fish and easy to get on to. We wont have snow machines or anything so we will be walking and with minamal gear and dont want a crowded lake but need something within 30-40 miles of duluth. Also any tips on how to fish the fish if anyone knows of a lake would be much appreciated. Thanks the kid!(Leave an email if its a quite lake)

    ? about Crappies

Thanks alot guys! It really helps. The lake i was thinking about fishing that we had a cabin on during the summer was Island Lake near Sturgeon Lake. I always see the guys in this one spot over winter but know theres got to be crappies on the other side of the lake? So im thinking about getting a map marking some spots and trying to find them using vex. So thanks alot for the info again and any more on how to be succesful in early to mid ice would be much appreciated!
