Good Morning!

Recommended Posts

Good morning-Thursday's are my day to pay bills and get the mail at the post office. I bought my wife a new 4Runner for Xmas this year so need to stop at the Toyota dealer and make her a appt for a vibration she says her truck is making. It wouldn't surprise one bit if she's hit something again. She's very hard on vehicles and puts on 40-50 thousand miles a year.  Mail boxes, snow banks, guard rails, 2 or 3 orange cones and light poles at the mall are some of her victims. I'm gonna load the fishing gear and go chase some crappies. Have a good day..

Ya, those menu's at Bev's are pretty long, aren't they? I'm too tired to write anything after spending yesterday at Mayo having a hundred and eleventeen different tests. Maybe after some cawfee and food I'll be able to navigate....

I woke up at 430am.  I sleep on my back like a corpse and my glasses were still on and Belle was joined to my left hip with a perfect amount of lean into me.  I've had to adjust the sleep number with her on my side of the bed so she's comfortable.  Seems to be working for both of us.  It's hard because she sleeps on her side or tummy and I want her to get a restful sleep.  She's a 70 and I'm a 35.

I don't get up this early but I made the mistake of grabbing my phone and bringing it in when I had to relieve myself.  I read an email from our bookkeeper.  We hired a "bookkeeper" to do some tasks for our business a few years ago.  She goes in and checks things out, reconciles a few things and keeps my CPA happy...at least that was the plan.  Recently I noticed an inventory adjustment of $3,976,000,000.00 or so...thats 3.9 billion.  It may have bothered me more if it was 39 thousand frankly but eventually I had to dig into what she had done.  Long story short is that she leaves me notes on anything unusual but didn't mention a thing about our billion dollar issue.  I didn't get a response and decided a new person may be better.

I emailed her and asked for her to refund the balance owed to us.  We pay her $XXX whenever she has used up the previous dollar amount.  The email that kept me up was this reply, "its our Company Policy to not refund payments."   I guess our company policy is that we shouldn't prepay any vendor out of the goodness of our heart because they ask nicely.  She's the owner and has a handful of others working for her.  I don't know if company policy is much of a good answer.  I bet Dotch has a company policy that lambs don't sleep in the house but last week the policy had to be broken, right Dotch?  She did offer that we could use the hours left for some work needed to be done.  I hope she can fix the $3.9 billion dollar mistake in less than the 8 hours we have as a credit.

Wayzata vs Burnsville today at 1pm.  My son was in bed at 9pm last night getting ready for a big day in St Paul today.  I'm happy for both my kids, these state tournaments make some great times and great memories down the road.

you sure that wasn't some Saudi prince that left that to you in his will!!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile back at the ranch, made it through another fun packed evening of cooking and slaving away. Actually made spaghetti last night, something we haven't done all winter for whatever reason. Love pasta and after working with farmers in the Durum Triangle right out of college, it gave me a different perspective on wheat, specifically durum but I digress. Lotsa leftovers for those times when we're trying to catch a bite between blessed events in the lambing barn. Gotta love that red sauce. :D And yes LL, we do break company policy as the situation dictates. Always a happy day when the lambs go back to the barn and things return to semi-normal. :)

No real action overnight or this a.m. on the lambing front. The ear tags arrived yesterday so we can tag, dock and give shots to the lambs. They're really growing so it will be good to get them moved to more spacious accommodations. What's really nice is when they can be let outside to enjoy the sunshine and learn what the electric fence is all about. Usually around dusk they run from one end of the lot to the other, causing a major gawker slowdown on the roadway as people crane their necks. :)

Warmer today, about 24 at choretime with a little light snow but at least it's cloudy. The Doors "Waiting for the Sun" has been stuck in my head for much of the winter. Man for clouds. Seems like when we get a sunny day like yesterday I'm almost giddy. Days like today not so much. Doesn't help that people have been dropping like flies lately. Mrs. Cheviot has been working overtime doing funeral flowers and arrangements. I spent a chunk of time this a.m. writing out sympathy cards for friends and acquaintances while the internet was being bucky. Must be connected to Hillary's server.

it was negative $3.9 billion.  If it was a positive error I could really do some damage...

All day long, I've had this song in my head, with Dotch dancing the 1-2 step with a line of sheep, up on two legs, one behind the other...I gotta stop taking those pain pills....

Mungo Jerry? That song would've been a lot better if I hadn't seen a Sweaty Betty dancing to it one time in a bar. Luckily I had already begun practicing my evasive maneuvers or she might've sat on me. :D

Well well...I'm going to the cabin this weekend and doing some ice fishing with a buddy.  Harry and I have had some awesome trips together the past 2-3 years.  He makes me fish more than I normally do and he also makes me feel like a guide because he calls me Capt Bligh.  In the Summer we chase crappies during the day on a different lake and walleyes at the other times.  It always work with Harry and I.  Last year on Sunday it was the windiest I've ever been on my lake and we went out anyway.  Could hardly fish but we caught 7 walleyes and had one leech left.  I set the hook and we were on our way to our limit and it was the first northern we caught all weekend.  Out of bait we had to head in.

This weekend its crappie and bluegill time.  My dads lake will by the spot and there are also a ton of nice sized perch but they've got that fluke in em.  Don't know why and I also know people say it's no big deal.  I made them a few times and it's too gross for me to stomach.

No dreams last night but if I did have one it should have been episode one of our Smoking Show.  A lot of you guys would need a lot of make up prep time, Boar and I could probably do it with our natural looks.  Gotta run and pick up my auger I loaned out see ya.
