I loved it. I'd heard the Windows 10 was not too cool, guy there took me thru a lot of it, and I did a lot on my own. Thought it was great, no probs I could foresee, I'll be in the 21st century again. I don't do much with the touch screen. Windows 10 feels almost like windows 7 which wasn't that different from XP. They call stuff "apps" instead of programs and stuff like that.
RebelSS
I really liked it. This is my first impression of seeing it and playing with it. I like the way the apps are grouped and displayed. Was able to navigate it pretty darn easy. Now, to narrow it down to one 'puter, and see what Dell will drop to on prices, and if they'll throw in a security program install, etc. They did when we built this one over the phone. Beats BEST BUY, anyway. I can't believe they closed the south one, as this north one doesn't have squat for anything. Went to check out a new receiver last summer, that was a joke. Sales kid had no clue what THD meant, and no clue about clean power, Watts RMS, etc. I actually gave up, as I couldn't get specs on what little they did have. Ending up having Jeff at Vy Electronics rebuild my Sony kick-butt receiver. Best thing I ever did.
delcecchi
I think it was 699 for 15.6 inch laptop, I7-6500U, touch, win10, terabyte, 2 year warranty, 12 GB memory Includes year of mcafee antivirus. They had another that had an AMD A10, and more memory for same price. They had a couple of toshibas that looked pretty good too. I can pm you the ibm friends and family thing if you are interested in refurb. Edited February 6, 2016 by delcecchi
RebelSS
Thanks, Del, but with my Dell discount, for the 15.6 Touchscreen, Win 10, 1TB, HDD, 8 GB and the AMD 8 Dual Quad processor, $399. Brand new. I won't buy anything refurb; that's just me. That fits my budget and is more than enough memory/power for what I need. Same ones in the stores are $500-$549 that I saw today. Couple other models with the Centrino I could use too, for about same price. Edited February 6, 2016 by RebelSS
delcecchi
I bought an underpowered computer once... Never again. What you can get sounds like a really good deal. A8 is equivilent to an i3 from what I could tell on net.
RebelSS
It has to far surpass my VISTA with the Centrino....and this has handled what I have used it for. Now, if we were talking vehicles, I HAVE to have max power. Just like Tim Allen. Aaar aarg.

leechlake
I know its Saturday morning but I thought I'd say "hello" to everyone on the Computer Forum and check on what you're up to today? highlife4me
I use a dry cure, 1/2 ounce of Morton's Tenderquick and 1 tsp. brown sugar per pound of meat then put in a ziplock and let the cure do its thing for 10 days. Every day or so I will flip the bags of meat to assure the cure is distributed evenly. After 10 days remove from bags and rinse, dry and apply an even coating of cracked black pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Let sit in fridge overnight and smoke the next day. lovebigbluegills

Dotch
Well, we had a hockey game, some transistor radios, a microscope, a chemistry set and Cox airplanes but that was about as close to hi tech as we got. Usually if we were awake, my younger brother and I were outside with the BB gun. We pretty much cleaned out the house sparrow population going up in the barn at night with a flashlight and picking them off the hay track. Cats loved us. Until springtime when the toms started fighting. We'd work for hours catching them and put a couple in a feed sack. Talk about fury in a bag! And Dad always wondered why it took us so long to do chores... lovebigbluegills
leechlake
was the office pest around back in those days Dotch? I imagine he's 6-10 years older but that's just a guess based on what I'ver read and my imagination. My imagination sometimes gets a little well... Speaking of being nuts I just watched the end of the movie "Beautiful Mind" and last weekend "One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest" was on. Any sketchy posts from me are all based on my watching those two movies. It's not my fault...I'm not paranoid.
Dotch
Nothing wrong with your imagination. Fun to give you a hard time but hey, I've had some dreams that I'd never dare tell anyone about. And they weren't even drug or alcohol induced! At least I don't think they were. No the office pest is a more recent addition. I didn't grow up in this area and he's a native. I've been here over 30 years and people are just now beginning to think I'm not an outsider anymore. He's about 5 years older than I am so kinda doing the downhill slide until retirement. Problem is he's been doing it ever since I've known him!

leechlake
Good morning. That game last night reminded me of a Vikes Super Bowl game where our offense had no chance. May have been vs the Raiders when Tarkenton threw a pass and it got batted back at him and he caught it. I hopped on the scale yesterday and finally started losing some weight. Hard to say exactly with our home scale since you have to reset it to zero a lot but around 5 lbs. Noticed some pants were now belt worthy and I hopped on the scale. Even though I make pretty substantial supper items I'm pretty good about not eating too much. Ice cream has become a problem and I've replaced shakes with a cup of ice cream when I have that hankering. Anyway, some progress and it had been perplexing me that I'd been gaining weight or at least staying the same. I think it was some magical metabolism thing my body was doing and I've overcome that hump. Work calls, gotta get at it. "Smiles everyone!!!" RebelSS
I'm up...I think. Pretty breezy down here. Big blizzard....Ha! They "blew" it again. Think I saw three snowflakes sail past the window. Way to go, morjits. Loved that game last nite; and Lady Gaga singing our anthem was one of, if not the best, I have ever seen/heard. Way to go, Lady! Still trying to figure why Fig Newton possibly tossed the game by backing away from that ball Miller smacked out of his hand. After playing lotsa league football, I have to say he was afraid of getting hurt. Boy, if one of us in league had done that, we'd be benched for the game...and maybe more. Favorite commercial was the "Dog Dorito's" one, hilarious. Have a good day guys, and if you see any singing sheep, better call Dotch. Popular Post LindellProStaf
The wife and I laughed at the Dorito Baby commercial. That was unexpected to say the least. The game didn't turn out like I thought it would buy I was happy to see the outcome. Denver's D really stopped Cammy. lol Maybe that will humble him some. Make him a man. My ribs turned out great. Had a good time watching the game. I owed the wife $3 from our fishing yesterday. $1 for first, biggest, and most fish. She won the whole show with a little sauger. Good for her. Then she be it all on Denver. So now I owe her $6. That is my only bet on the Super Bowl. I will take her out to eat for the payback. Great to have the day off work. Moving a little slow today. Well have some orders to fill and take to the Spee Dee depot here. See ya all later, and have a great day. Congrats Smurfy, will ship prizes to you today. I would have liked that coffee and smoke tube and meats too. Nice prizes. leechlake, bobberineyes, Dotch and 3 others
