beeper collars

Recommended Posts

I am currently not using a beeper collar but have found when in thick cover I cannot see if my pointer is on point or what is happening, do you guys reccomend using one or should I save the money and just get a bell. Also I have a tri tronics collar so if I have been leaning towards the tri tronics beeper any feedback on these or better beeper collars would be great. Adam

I think a beeper is the way to go, but I used a invisible fence when my GSP was a pup and now he is scared of the beep of a collar. So I use a bell only when real thick or I know we'll be in the cats. I bought the Upland special just to have the beeper and only used it once, he broke point when it beeped and came to me.

I use the tritronics beeper and it works great. My dog thought it was a little weird at first in the yard, but she doesn't even notice it in the field. The only problem I had was it got soaked on opener this year and quit working. I sent it back to tritronics and they sent me a new one. It sure makes it easier to locate my dog on point.

I use the Upland Special and I simply love it!!!

That beeper comes in handy in the corn, cat tails, thick CRP, and under brush.
Pointers are made to run you lose track of your dog turn the beeper off on your hand held and turn it back on again and you know where your dog is, I cant say enough good things about the upland special...

At the beginning of this year the collar was not working right 3 yrs old, we sent it back and for $100.00 they sent us back everything brand new but the box!

Definatly a Great collar! In my book!

I have an Innotek Pro 500 (I think) and it works very nicely. There are about 5 different tones it can be set at and 2 different durations between beeps. It also can be set to point only. It's a good beeper and I have had no problems with it the 4 years I've had it. I would recommend getting one that rests on top of the dogs neck as they are easier to hear and it's easier to tell the direction and distance of your dog. I have heard of the TT uplander model sort of rotating because the weight of the unit and the weight of the beeper balance out and the beeper ends up right behind one of the dogs ears. Can anyone tell me if that's true or not? Thanks and good luck.

I always use the beeper, don't know what I'd do without it, especially when the dog is on point.

I have it so it beeps when she's running, but it goes into a hawk scream if she's on point.

I strongly recomend a beeper collar.

Thanks for the input guys I have decided to go with the tritronics beeper collar, I currently use the sport 60 and can just add the beeper to the strap. Adam

Ok, guys what is the best way to introduce this beeper to the dog, this weekend I put it on him and the dog just did not know what to do, when the hawk scream went off he ran over to me and kind of coward, Also since bought the beeper seperatly I have no control over the beeper from my hand control with the Upland collar do you have control over the beeper with your hand control. The way I have mine set is it only beeps when he is on point.

When Buster goes on point you could go over to him and pick him up he stays on point or his head will stay pointing at the bird, he wont budge intil the bird gets up or he looses scent.

The beeping of the collar doesnt bother him when he is focased on the bird, try useing the beeper like that for a while intil he gets used to it.
