StrikeMaster

I have a Strikemaster Lazer Mag Express. I just got it up and running this past weekend but noticed it leaked oil all over the auger part this summer. After starting and letting it run for awhile I could tell that it was dripping from the muffler? Any suggestions on why this is happening or how to stop it?

I am using the Lucus 2stroke oil.... with V-power gas (non-oxy)

Background on it... I used it about 3 years ago all the time. My last two winters havnt been able to get out much since I just had a kid. This year planning on getting back out again. I added fresh gas with sea foam and let her run for awhile. (didn't have any throttle) would just sit there an idle. After letting it run about a half tank of gas finally was working how it should. Dumped all that gas and added new stuff again.

Noticed it have a little oil on the muffler again after that now? Choke is working just like normal along with everything else...

Thoughts?

Mixed too rich?  They recommend 32-1 or 40-1 but if you are running Lucas you can stretch it out to probably 50-1 or even a little thinner.  I switched to Amsoil Sabre synthetic and run it at 80-1 for all of my 2 stroke small engines with no issues.  Or just carry some WD40 in the truck with a roll of paper towels and run it under load this winter and clean it up as needed.  Idling might burn less efficiently than running it under load.

It is a little container that said to add a gallon of gas to that. I looked it up looks like that is 50:1 ratio... should I try and add a little more gas to this and see what happens?

I used to use that ams oil just hard to find in my neck of the woods the old dealer decided not to sell anymore..

I second Hazzard's recommedation.

To attach photos from a phone (vague guesses as I don't know your exact phone or operating system)- on the bottom of the area you use to enter a post there is a "drag files her to attach or choose files..." area; click on "choose files."  You will then have to search in your phone for either a photo gallery or a document list to find the photo to post, and then select the specific photo you'd like to post.

Its not uncommon to have some black carbon and residue leaking out the exhaust.
Especially with the type muffler SM has on Lazer powerheads.  Its a box with a pencil hole.  Exhaust will condense in there.    If the engine is running too rich you'll notice more dripping then usual.  If you flooded the engine, the crankshaft will be loaded up with fuel.  It will take some time for the fuel to eventually pass through the system and while that happens your going to have a lot of dripping out the muffler.

If you continue to have excessive dripping out the exhaust a carb adjustment might be in order But only if your running so rich that the engine isn't hitting its peak RPM and bogging when a load is put on it.

And don't you love the black soot it shoots out on the nice clean walls of your house? I finally gave up and bent a piece of light tin flashing in a 90 Degree angle and hose clamped it to my muffler. The tin is light enough to flap just enough not to restrict the exhaust and it catches the soot.

Another reason I love my Ion.
