Safari vs. Firfox?

I am not a sophisticated computer user so you'll have to be tolerant of my question.  I have FireFox and also Safari in my lap top. I really don't know if there is a big difference between them but I have friends who only use Safari.  What am I missing?  Is there some content difference or speed difference?  Is one more secure than the other?

Safari comes with a Mac.  It is an Apple program.   Firefox is a third party thing.  I think it is more an issue if Safari does the job why switch.   Firefox became popular because Explorer was so awful on windows machines.

Browser security?  One may warn you of a sites ratings if you install the plugin.

Over the years I have used with good results.

Chrome

IE

Firefox

Opera 

All have worked. My least favorite has been IE as it tends to be slow and sluggish.  Chrome and Opera I know sometimes don't have the needed applets available for some sites.  

I am sure either will work fine, I work go with which ever matches your style of web browsing the best.

Okay. Did not realize Safari was an Apple product but now it makes sense-I have a MacBook!! They both seem to do what few things I need done without trouble.  I just CAN'T go back to wrestling with a PC and IE!!

You gents have answered my questions- there are no serious or substantial differences in them,  especially for an amateur like me.

IE is the worst by far. I use Chrome for most everything.

Chrome fan here too. I've tried IE, Firefox, Edge, and Opera and Chrome is the one I chose to stick with.

You don't have to use IE just because it is a PC. I use Chrome all the time unless the page I am on acts strange or things just don't work. That is the only time I will use IE to see if it make a difference.
