Sure is a perfect day for grilling! Got 2 of those ultra-thick 1 1/2"  piggery chops marinating (melding?) in concentrated apple juice, and I poured in some Teriyaki sauce, too. Apple-teriyaki? Going on the grill over applewood later, with the leftover beans from last nite, and I guess a tossed salad with cherry 'maters, green pepper and purple onion strips, parmesan and and garlic croutons, topped with blue cheese. Boy, sure is quiet on here today....think I hear a cricket somewhere.....;)

Say lbbg, how do ya grow CANNED CARROTS in the garden???!! :P  I'm a smart elbow, aren't I?

Wise elbow I believe was al Finleys phrase. I miss that article, but believe I've read all of them. Pat McManus is a hilarious writer.

Way too classy Reb! Wait till you see the mess I made. The fork police will be distraught. Hey, I was hungry, OK? :D

Ever have one of those days when you accomplished a lot and needed to celebrate? Happens here frequently so while I was thawing the lamb steaks for tomorrow was at a loss as to what to make and had to improvise. Was a package of pre-formed onion and Monterrey Jack hamburgers from Morgan's Meat Market in the freezer so it was "tag, you're it"! Got out the Smokey Joe as I really didn't need to fire up the full size Weber for 4 burgers.Used up leftover charcoal from previous grillings so no need to open the new bag. Used a little plum wood I'd pruned this afternoon for additional smokeage. When I was getting it ready I recalled all the times I had gone to my Mom's and cooked lamb for her on her Smokey Joe. She and Dad had bought the little grill with the intent they'd take it with them on their travels. After Dad got sick, it never happened. I was just glad to cook for her as I knew she wouldn't grill for herself but I digress. Mrs, Cheviot did the au gratins, I made some corn in between trips to check on the burgers and a good time was had by all. :)

Honey I shrunk the grill!

A hearty sheep farmer meal after a hard day's work. Note to self: Must make trip to grocery store. Out of quinine water! ;)

we had fresh ABT sausage, home made fries, and since I had the fryer out I fried whole brussel sprouts.

Just threw them in at 350 for three minutes and tossed with some salt and parmesan.  Even the wife liked em and asked for me to make them again.

Dotch- I preferred the little bottles.  Seemed we always went through 1/4 bottle at some point and the stuff is terrible flat.  They are ridiculously more expensive though.

I agree LL. If you don't use the quinine water up once it's open within a couple days it's flat and may as well go down the drain. I usually keep some of both sizes on hand. If there's a few of us and I'm purty confident we'll go through the better part of a large bottle I open that. If it's just me or we're having a couple, the small bottles are perfect.

Oh God, anything but gin.  Food looks great but the booze would have me giving it all back.  The first time I REALLY got sick-drunk (my sister's wedding just after I got out of high school) was on gin.  Haven't been able to even smell it since without dry heaving.

Dotch, you got me drooling on the gin picture. Looks like gin season officially starts tomorrow in bemidji. Great looking grill pictures guys.

Ah, gin. Started on it about 20 years ago and I was hooked. Got my little fat buddy from Bemidji drinking it now too and we stop at the duty free shop when we come across the border from Canada to help replenish our supply. Beefeater is kinda my rail gin but I like it. I try to keep a varied selection on hand. Think there are 7 different makes in the cabinet presently. One thing I would like to run across however is the 12 packs of Canada Dry quinine water in 12 oz. cans. Got some on one of my last tours of duty in Canada but haven't located any stateside. Was only about 4 bucks US at the grocery store in Fort Frances I believe. Beats the heck out the 6 packs of 10 oz. bottles they charge about the same for here.

Encore performance tonight. Marinated lamb steaks 24 hrs. in a mish-mash of homemade apple juice, Worcestershire, soy, a dab of raspberry and Merlot vinaigrette with the steaks being seasoned first with curry powder and a dab of seasoned salt. Grilled over hot coals with pear wood and a few small pieces of leftover apple wood. Results: Loved it! Once again, knocked Mrs. Cheviot out before she had a chance to take advantage of me. Birdseye mixed veggies, some of which were possibly grown locally and a tossed salad with some balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Washed down with one of those mermaid beers from Wisconsin, it complemented the meal well.  Doggies enjoyed some fat afterwards too. :D Pear wood so far seems to have a more subtle flavor than apple at least here anyway. Not as sharp, more like a pear. Almost bought a smokin' tube today to experiment with but forgot until I was already down the road. Gotta get me one! :)

Off like a prom dress!

Clandestinely photographed when Mrs. Cheviot had her back turned. Here I had been so careful to set the flatware perfectly in order to win glowing reviews from the fork police. Wasn't meant to be I guess. :(

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
