A little yardbird and some Alaskan bear food. Weber steak and chop seasoning + light dusting of cumin on the chicken, lemon pepper on the salmon. Both basted with a very light layer of olive oil when put on and when turned. About 10 minutes start to finish on the grill, tender and juicy. Mrs. Cheviot made some rice and purchased Mrs. Gerry's coleslaw. Meal met approval although I was admonished for photographing the blessed event. I did not wipe the fork LL. Can't win for losing some days...:D

Dotch, Del says rice isn't rice.. you were eating grass. Have you told the missus yet?  Looks really great....*slurp*  By the way, I now know where my missing glass went...but how did it end up on your table?! Will it be OK for me to start using that set in my pics, even though I only have three, or will the Fork/glass police be all over me for using a broken set? :D

Wild rice ain't rice.  It is a species of grass.   And Rice-a-roni ain't rice either.

When is a duck not duck? When it turns chicken? I'm being really careful of things since this post, and advise others to watch out for things that are not what they "seem to be". Went to slice up some 'cukes last nite, and look what I found. Must be why Del doesn't like them. :P

There you go again, as Ronnie used to say.   Rice is rice.  Wild Rice is not rice, it is a grass, although tasty.  And that rice a roni stuff is more like floor sweepings from the pasta factory crossed with a close out sale from Dupont.

???!!  Now ya got me all confoosed and discombooberated..rice is rice, wild rice is grass.....but grass is a weed, just ask Cheech and Chong.... hippie4-smiley.gif

On a side note, so as not to be chased and poked by the Fork/.Hijack police, that bee ya put in my bonnet about the 'puter "touchscreen" made me do lots of investigation and looking/trying. I am now ordering a NON-TOUCH screen; just bumped it up to a 17" screen. Ya actually helped me out. I think. ;)

BACK TO RICE AND GRASS, PLEASE...........................

Mr Fork here.  We had a fork meeting and agreed that Bobber's "power fork" is acceptable and actually condoned if it is referenced as such.  Good idea Bobber.  You do have to be a righty though otherwise it's just improper placement.

hijacking???  I'm not following that reference one bit :)

Actually that was long grained domesticated rice, and not wild rice. It was tasty however. The one MN crop I regret not having an opportunity to work with when I was at the U was wild rice.  A lot of work has been done with it at their experiment station in Grand Rapids. I think they were afraid we would skip the test plots and just go fishing. Apparently the fishing poles we'd packed gave us away! ;) Both rice and wild rice are grass family plants and while the two are not directly related, they are close cousins. Both domestic and wild rice are gluten free for all you celiacs out there. :)

That's because it was up for grabs.

I don't care what ya call it, but I love wild rice. Other kinds, OK, not so much. The stuff I DON'T like was the saffron rice prepared by the Arabic folk I had while I spent time with them. And yes, it was prepared right, it was King Fahd's entourage staff.  However, they DO give some nice gifts out.

Nope, they were in the back room. Away from me.   But, ya could smell their perfume long after they left. Those people use garden sprayer jugs to put the stuff on, and it stays, as it's a lot of scented oils. I busied myself with the stuffed goat and the huge bowls of fresh dates...yum! :P

Their favorite American food? Chicken and pizzas......they cleaned out both Colonel Sanders and the Pizza Hut's here.

I wanna know what LL cooked up after asking us for all that recipe help....so, what was it, hmmm??? :/

I can't remember.  I tried some different stuff and frankly I think the family prefers the tried and true items so that experiment is over.

Speaking of forgetting, late last week I took my wife's car to a hockey game and after the game 100% could not recall where I parked.  When I strained my brain I went back and tried to recall walking into the rink and work from there.  I ended up confusing a different day walking in the rink and ended up 180 degrees on the wrong side of the building.

I basically found it after a large process of elimination.  We all know I wasn't drinking so it seemed kind of odd and made me nervous....

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
