Mounting grab bars in fiberglass shower insert - ASAP!!!

Recommended Posts

I need to mount some grab bars in a shower with a fiberglass shower insert. There is space between the fiberglass and the wall studs. I would prefer not to have to open up the wall from the adjacent room to put in backing. Is there a way to do it from the shower side. WingIts won't work because the fiberglass is too thin. Same with the Moen SecureMount.Has anyone used these:

How about dropping something down from the ceiling? This needs to be done ASAP!!!

You can buy those suction things on amazon. They work great if you have a smooth surface. They were a little tricky on my tile since the pitch of the old 4 inch tile was a little off from what the device was designed for.

Really helped after knee replacement.

I have used moen secure mounts but I had drywall behind the shower insert. I think they are pretty strong for most people. Is the fiberglass 1/8" thick? copied from the webpage:

*Requires a 3½” space behind the wall and works in the following substrates

• 1/2” or 5/8 ” Dry Wall

• 1/2” or 5/8 ” Dry Wall with Tile

• 1/2” or 5/8 ” Dry Wall with Marble

• 1/8” or 1/4 ” Fiberglass Tub Surround
