ZapMan
Fishing has been good and I need another new deep frying thermometer. Does anyone know of a good brand that lasts? It seems that mine all quit working after a few batches. I have numerous cheap ones and after being hot for awhile they are not accurate anymore. I commonly use more than one and they all seem to go their own way. I've been looking on the big"A" site any there is a lot of thermometers out there
fishing tech
My wife has a digital one that works great. The only problem is the guy that uses it forgets to turn it off and the batteries go dead. I will check where she got it and what kind it is. walleye 4 me
I just got the fryin saucer for xmas and need a thermometer as well. I have actually never deep fried anything so this is all new to me. Usually just pan fry in butter or through them on the grill.
ZapMan
I seen that frying saucer at a show, nice. Use less oil and fried fish stays warm on outer part while excess oil drains back. However no spot/area to hook on a thermometer.
pikestabber
This isn't quite what you're asking for, but it's an alternative perhaps... It's called a Presto Kitchen Kettle: Was just under $30 at Wally World. Has an adjustable temp dial and I have used it for a few years with no problems. It's also a steamer, etc., so it's pretty useful all around (and well reviewed, to boot). What I like best is that it is fully submersible so mine looks about as clean now as when I took it out of the box.
ZapMan
I had that one but It could not stay hot enough long enough for a group fish fry, I fry outdoors with a flame now no smell in the house!

I wonder if it was a defective one? I cooked for 30+ people last fall with this one and it worked great.
Ron Vroom
I use an infra red thermometer which works well for that as well for a lot of other things such as wheel bearing temps, etc.
ZapMan
That's a good idea, I'll check into one of those.
eurolarva
Infra red is the way to go. Sams has them for 20 bucks and saw one at northern tools for

I'm intrigued!
Ron Vroom
Mine is probably within 5 degrees. Problably will vary between brands and how much you pay. Mine was about $
aanderud
These are pretty accurate for things like oil? I'm intrigued! They work great for just about anything. I use mine to check the temp of the pool water in the summer too.

jentz
We have all above mentioned. What wasn't mentioned and works best with a long life is a candy thermometer.Thermometer enclosed in a pyrex clear case.Quick function of temp drops and accurate.
