we do some walking of swamps and thicker stuff. 3 guys. Only have buck tags so things don't look too promising but with the deer numbers shooting a doe would be stupid. If we get one we'll be ecstatic.

May also do some slow walking on logging trails in a few areas where I've shot some deer mid day browsing around, if there is snow or its wet. Where we hunt this is a pretty tough time of year, but so was rifle season in general.

Short of lighting the neighbors swamp on fire, we're gonna sit first hour and make drives on 4 different farms we've lined up for the weekend and see what happens, knowing where they have been bedding since rifle season helps, but getting them to go where we hope will be another story. But, we'll get to see a heck of a bunch of em.

OK and I am serious on this post. Do you think I'm nuts if I at legal light, crack the horns harder then I ever have, grunt like grandpa's hog, thrash bushes, rattle like there's no tomorrow, deploy a buck and doe decoy right on the creek ice for solid viewing, snort wheez doe bleat you name it, crush the horns again etc. Please respond before 7:27AM tomorrow morning. Here's why, why not ? Sitting there listening to them an hour b4 shooting light, then about 15-20 minutes b4 light they are bedded tight, would it be a better idea to start b4 legal light when they possibly are on their feet ? I'm in a high buck ratio area, my cam had like 14 bucks and 1 doe there this season, now frozen the does and fawns are in there thick also, if calm my guess is 50-100 deer would hear this easily, my why not is nothing has moved in legal light anyway so what would I be hurting.

No luck here either. Kicked up a few walking some stuff but never got a good look and with the fog they were gone real quick. It was very creepy in the woods yesterday. Dead calm and could only see 50-100 yards. It was like something out of a horror movie.

Eating it as well, had 1 final chance sorta on a nice buck Sunday at noon, with a rifle he's a goner as a scope would've been huge to dial that bullet in between tamaracs, with open sights I said I can't try that shot. Kinda the whole season in a nutshell, 6 near miss opportunities, but no dice. Heard more rifle shots between 4:30 and dark during the weekends then I ever have during any other muzzy season which is simply unfortunate that some of those private landowners who can walk from the house to the stand and back chose to do so.

tag soup here also...had a lot of opportunities if I wanted to shoot at a trotting/running deer but I won't do that. Saw a total of probably 20+ deer over the season but only 2 gave me a good shot and they were small and 1 nice buck broadside at the end of light at 100yds out but was too dark to pull the trigger. Another fun year but unfortunately will have to wait another 11 months before I have the chance at some veni steaks!!
