icehole10
I was out there, but didn't see that. we went out of rogers on Saturday and there was a crack that had opened up and they put planks across, but people were still driving around them, so I cant say that im surprised! Hawg
I was about 1/4 - 1/2 mile away. They got it out quickly and put plywood over the spot. The cracks were parallel to the road so they didn't need to be very big to cause problems.

Hawg
I think the crack went all along the lake on that side because all three accesses were down for a short time to bridge. By JR'S nobody paid any attention to the bridge(it was pretty poorly marked) and just stayed about 50 feet off the main road and then crossed wherever they came to it. You really couldn't even tell what crack it was because there were so many and all were visible because there was very little snow. JR'S did a good job of marking the bad road but the bridge they put out was just a couple pieces of plywood and hard to find. The bridge markings were gone by the following morning. JSK76
I was going to go out of Rogers but was told they needed to build a bridge so we left Rogers and headed out of West Wind instead. Everything went well and then on Sunday morning we went too leave and where the bridge was, was open water. We never crossed the bridge coming out because we were going to fish shallower and then decided to head out deeper and just ended up driving over a 5" part of the crack. When we came to the bridge we were kinda surprised how high it looked but thought that was just how it was. We talked about how we should keep are momentum up so we would spin out on the glare ice while pulling the wheel house. About 30 yards before the "bridge" my buddy says "hold up! let me out so I can take a look at this" we all got out to find open water on the other side. I just watched the guy fishing next to us cross it not 30 minutes earlier without a problem (Mike with the brown f150 and white ice castle, I'm talking about you!). The crack just opened up minutes before we got to it and we were the first to get to it. We had to go exploring and find our own way off the lake. We found a small spot near shore that was crossable and drove the shore back to West Wind. Learned a lot that day, even if a bridge is marked with orange cones it doesn't hurt to get out and take a look for yourself. Also be prepared to spend more time on the lake then expected incase there isn't another way off. The pics really don't do it justice and when we were in the truck we couldn't see the open water because the ice ridge was blocking our view of it.
