Lazers work very well and are fast cutting as long as you keep them sharp and don't put any nicks in them. Then they are worthless and just sit and spin and hop around the hole! That is why I go with a chipper blade, they seem to last a long time between sharpening, can reopen holes well and can still cut even if banged up a bit!

It would be a hand auger on a clam plate.

I'm using that exact same setup with a Milwaukee 18v Fuel and a 6 inch SM bit with the Lazers, and I am so far amazed on how well that set-up worked last weekend in 8 inches of ice. Literally just seconds to cut the holes.
