Legal draw weight for archery?

Is there a minimum for turkey or is it the same as big game? I can not seem to find anything on this in the book. I raise the question cause my son, who is 8, his bow is buried at 25 pounds and was not going to get him a different bow for a couple years. He might have to toughen up and bump up to the 20 gauge.

Thanks if any one knows any info

Wild turkey regs state Bows no less than 30lbs.

Have him try a 20ga. He only has to do it once. My 11yr old daughter got her first turkey this spring using the 20ga. She didn't love the practice and the actual shot, but she got the job done and accepted the "push" of the gun as part of the experience.

Don't beat him up, but have him try it a few shots. We used some light target load for practice and I did the patterning with turkey loads. Like I said, she only had to pull the trigger once.

The 20 gauge does not kick that bad. last year, the first year my 11 year old granddaughter could deer hunt, I purchased her a Browning BPS 20 ga youth model slug gun. I then added a nice shoulder recoil deal for the butt of the stock. She had no issues with the kick last year at 11 and this year, we moved up to a 3" slug again with zero issues and she is about average for her age in size. The recoil pad really made it a lot less in the recoil dept even with a 3" slug.

We would go out and shoot 20 3" slug rounds for practice and she had no issues and never flinched from the recoil once.
