steamfitter455
Im in the process of designing a wheelhouse and cannot decide whether to go leaf spring or torsion axle for the suspension. I've seen on other posts that somebody had a setup from L&L Fabrication that looked nice, but has anyone built one and have some good detailed pics? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Think im going to go with a 14' with a 3' V. Single axle but kicking around a double, trying to keep it as light as possible without going to aluminum for fear of cracking issues. Any good fish house designs would be a big help
outkast7222
My castle has leafs like most, it rides rough and bounces a bit on bigger bumps. My boss has a Salem with torsion axles and it rides so smooth that he leaves stuff on his shelves going down the highway.
honda400ex_treme
Im currently building a 8x14 with 3' V. Im using electric jacks instead of winches. I will post some pictures. I went with a leaf spring set up. We will see how it works in the next couple months.
Eric Wettschreck
Steamfitter, hands down no comparison. Torsion axles are the way to go.

eagle_3464
I agree that torsion axles likely offer a smoother ride. I have them on my boat trailer and love them. They do however require a taller frame tube or a boxed area inside your house to accommodate the pivot required for a drop down frame.Part of the problem with many of the leaf spring frames is that one end of the spring is stuffed inside a tube and pinned. This not only creates a pinch shear point but also greatly reduces the spring action.Nice work on your frame Honda.
Lip_Ripper Guy
The torsion is way better, and it's not even close. I've (accidentally) left open beverage cans on the counter tops and had them still there after 2+ hour drives. I'd say over 90% of fish houses are running leaf springs. They aren't bad, they just aren't as good.
