I am too old to start that early... How long will you be out? I would imagine well into the day to get a look at some of the big girls on the beds? Please send a report, the best of luck!

I'll be out early opening morning...wading a small stream in SW MN drifting cutbait for channel cats smile My father-in-law is a 92 year old WWII veteran, and we spend every Memorial Day weekend with him, so I'll be fishing cats instead of bass.

Taking a day or two off next week to go get after the bass though, and I'll probably have the lake to myself smile

Good luck on opener everyone... Have fun and be safe.

I will be out on Sunday and every day of the following 2 weeks.

I'm glad the weather is warming up. Last year at this time the water was still cool and I never got on a good topwater bite. If the pads are up I plan on doing a good bit of frogging.

2 hours of fishing this morning so far has produced 10 largemouth. 2 12-14" and 8 fat healthy 16-17". They all looked to be males that were just moving up. Hopefully there are some nice big females sitting just off the breaks getting ready to move.

I had a plan and I executed it almost perfectly.

I knew where the fish were going to be, I knew what I wanted to catch them on.

Once I figured out the spot on the spot the hook setting fest began.

On my way out the door to do it again.

Where on the rum were you catching these if you don't mind me asking? I don't need your secret spot but around what city. I live by it down closer to anoka but I imagine this is up a ways? Also any tips would be great! Live so close but never fished it. Going to try today or tomorrow. Can't tell in your pics about your boat but could a 17 foot with a 60hsp be okay?

Not on the Rum.

On Lake X in Wright County.

Todd S and I fished this morning and did OK, put 20 or so in the boat.

Jigs with a small compact profile with a small chunk trailer in 3 to 7 feet of water hopped and drug on the bottom result in hard thumps and fish choking on your jig.

I'm a big believer in the idea that how fish take a bait tells you a lot.

When they woof it down like that, you have it pretty well wired smile

Heading out at midnight for bass opener (and posting updates to boot!), if I wasn't at work I would be giving you a standing ovation. Good job!

0108 first fish choked a chatterbait. 13" dink but it is a start.
