What are you running for your house battery? I run 3 Hbirds (1 ten inch and 2 eight inch screens) and can go all day. I run a 2012 620 as well, and if I ever need to add a 5th battery it will go in the back right corner where the charger is now. There is room for both a battery and the charger in the same compartment.

should have got a lund, I have never had that problem with my lund(lol)

what battery are you using.... brand and size. if you don't have a group 31, that might be the problem. I have always ran a group 31 for starting and accessories and have 3 locators, stereo, livewell pumps all running and never ran a battery down unless it was at the end of its life. this year I went with a agm, so far so good. what is the date on the battery? could be a bad battery.

I searched and came up with a web site that gave current draw for hds12t of .7A with backlight on low, up to 2A with it on high.

The 4 Amps for the two shouldn't take out a good battery in 6 hours. They would knock it down some.

I would question if current battery isn't big enough. I just put in an interstate 31 xhd based on a referral from another board member, so far I think it was the best thing I could of done. I have 2) HDS 7's, 1) HDS 5, and 250 pro xs on the house battery. AT repair in Elk River is dealer for interstate, they had to special order it for me, but it only took two days to get.

Sorry I put series 24 battery, I meant 27.

At the 4 amps listed about a decent battery should run those two graphs for about 25 hours (assuming it's a 100 amp/hr battery)

I looked at a NAPA starting battery and it had a Reserve capacity of 85 minutes which is only about 40 amp hours. So if you draw 4 or 5 amps for 6 hours (throw in the live well etc) it might well be too low to start the big motor.

Can't answer the OP question about placement but I'm running into the same thing.

Two HDS's (not that big) plus livewell pump and I drop to 12v after 3-4 hours. Time for me to move up to a group 31.

I'd start there if you aren't already.

I just looked on interstates HSOforum and their 29 series Deep cycle/Cranking battery will last 21 hours on a 5 amp load. I'd say that's the one to get if you have big electronics.

Also I would set my volt alarm to 10.5 volts and start the motor if it went off.

Get a Sears PM1, Interstate 31MHD or 21XHD, Deka 27m6 or similar spec battery. You are going to want at least 1000MCA and the most reserve capacity you can afford (180-205min). You will not need a separate accessory battery if you have the RIGHT battery to run accessories and start the outboard. Buy one quality big battery. It will still weigh less than 2 smaller batteries and you can still use a standard 4 bank on board charger and not have to worry about 2 chargers and 2 extension cords etc.
