Well that is good muskieman because and ethical person sportmans wouldnt buy another tag knowing they already hunted. I'm glad you know what you are doing. Thanks

Sandpoint- Yes, I called the DNR before our drawn-for season (A) started, and obviously I never bought the license for it. Didn't have any issues picking up the later season license after season A was over, I purchased it directly from the DNR's HSOforum using their online system.

Here's my summary/takeaway- You can't hunt more than 1 season. If you get drawn for one of the lottery seasons (A-C), and you purchase the license, regardless of whether you actually hunt or are successful, you are done. If you get drawn for one of the lottery seasons and don't purchase the license, then you can purchase one of the surplus season licenses without issue and hunt then. That's what the DNR told me on the phone when I called them a month or so ago, and it's been 100% consistent with my experience. I was drawn for season A and didn't purchase a tag. I am planning to hunt season G, and I have purchased a surplus tag for that season (at full price ($27)) without issue from the DNR's HSOforum.

Muskieman, I am not at all saying you are not a sportsman. Read my post I said what I felt in the first line. Dont know wether it is right or wrong. Dont really care either, I just posted HOW I WOULD FEEL!!! Sorry if you read it the wrong way.

You hunted A season and then could buy another license because you didn't score a bird?

Wished I knew about this too! Kind of unfair for those that wait for the later seasons, huh? I'd apply for B, then enter contests knowing I could hunt B,D,E,F,G,H. That's a lot of hunting for someone that is suppose to get only one tag! Sounds dangerous actually! Guys that did not get birds during their first season out blasting the woods with others hunting their only season!

These are direct quotes from the turkey hunting regulations from the DNR. The point is the regulation reads very clearly that you are only allowed one tag and that tag is restricted to the season (A-H, archery or youth). It is probably one of the most clear restrictions in the regulations. Once you buy a tag and that season passes, whether you hunted or not, whether you were successful or not, YOU ARE DONE.

The final point I will make is the language I'm trying to find in the regulation. It goes something like this, "The owner of the license is solely responsible for knowing an understanding the regulations before heading afield." In other words, ignorance or poor legal advice from unknowing people is not a defense. The person behind the counter at Gander does not work for the DNR and will not be responsible in any way when you get caught breaking the law. I certainly would not ask the person running the register at Gander for legal license advice.

Great post and by following this you are being a sportsman and ethical hunter.

      got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out

      we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
