Got a serious case of the winter blues and I cant wait till opener. What all your's go to set up on opener? i'm usually trolling super slow with a gumball jig and shiner. Its a great combo early in the season.

Kinda depends on the spring but seeing as this one is similar to last years it'll most likely be an 1/8 oz vegas jig and frozed Shiner or a 3/16 oz'r with some plastic of one kind or another in water 3-4 to maybe 9 foot or so. Them 'eyes on the LOTW mainlake will probably still be prespawn like last year and it'll be epic fishing with one outta every 12 fish a BIG hen. Hard to keep the males off when your sitting on the right spot !! Might toss a x-rap or small HJ for a bit this year to see what happens on that spot ? Should work also.

Casting a Rapala from shore or wading in the water on Mille Lacs. It was chilly last year, but I caught fish on Frenzy Minnows; the year before on X-Raps and Husky Jerks, the year before that I think it was X-Rap Shallow Shads, and Husky Jerks; the year before that cranks didn't work but I got some eye's on leeches and in 2009 it was Jerks and X-Rap's. In 2008 I was skunked and in 2007 I pounded them on Husky Jerks.

For walleyes usually a 1/8oz and medium size rainbow minnow if I can get them fished slowly in various depths on 4 lb mono.

Up here in the north if we don't start stringing some sunny days in the upper 40's and low 50's there the rig may be a auger and jigging spoon ............AGAIN.
