Ice Shack Baby
Well, since hearing a bunch of people bragging about this stuff. I just put in an order today for some. What are some things that you do with this stuff? Basically a rub or are there other things that you can do?

holmsvc
It's good on grilled walleye when I'm looking to change up the way I eat fish.
JP Z
I love that stuff! It is great on anything that comes from something that Moooos but I've seen it used very effectively on poultry and veggies. Here is the label off the stuff, you'll see it has worchester and charcoal so it has a different smokey flavor, kinda peppery as well. Just tilt your head to view..... KEN W
This is a good meat seasoning.I like it.BUT..... Riekers Magic Dust is better.Especially on steaks. And everyone in my family agrees. It enhances the meat and doesn't cover the taste up.I will use Tatonka until the bottle is empty, but then back to Magic Dust.http://www.riekers.biz/products.htmlInteresting in that both Tatonka and Magic Dust are made in ND. thirdeye
I watched one of the BBQ Pitmasters shows where one contestant used a micro plane and grated lump charcoal onto some meat. Later that year I sampled Tatonka Dust at a competition, and despite my reservations about it containing some charcoal.... it had a pleasing flavor. LMITOUT
If you look above and read the ingredient list it uses "activated charcoal" which is different than using grated Kingsford. Activated charcoal is used to treat poisonings, reduce intestinal gas (flatulence), lower cholesterol levels, prevent hangover, and treat bile flow problems (cholestasis) during pregnancy. Different than Kingsford briquettes, yes. Briquettes have a lot of other fillers and chemicals in them. Different from ground lump charcoal, not really. Activated charcoal is just ground carbon of a specific size for it's intended use. Check out this link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activated_carbon
Dock Boy
After reading this post I ordered some Tatonka and the Riekers brand to try. Has anyone tried any of the other spices these to makers have? I also ordered some of the Meatloaf spice from Riekers anyone try this stuff?

MossyMO64
My wife and I come up with Tatonka Dust seasoning about 4 years ago just looking for something different for personal use, never expecting to go retail. It is fun seeing and hearing good customers as yourselves supporting our Tatonka Dust seasoning, thank you! This is a good meat seasoning.I like it.BUT..... Tatonka Dust and Magic Dust are very different products, one being better than the other is a matter of personal preference. Both seasonings owners are from and live in North Dakota. Tatonka Dust is made in North Dakota, but I can not find where Magic Dust is made in North Dakota?
KEN W
I'm not sure where Magic Dust is made.Reiker..... I've eaten in his restaurant many times when pheasant hunting out there. Used to be in Morristown, SD. I like them both but that's a personal choice like you say. If I could only choose 1, it would be Magic Dust.
