snagger
Hey guys,I just bought a 2005 4Runner SR5 yesterday. As i pulled out of the lot I noticed it kind of "lurched" while making a tight turn. Almost as if it was in 4-wheel drive. But, I know that it is not. Anybody have a clue what's up? I was thinking it has something to do with the traction control or something.Thanks. Ufatz
I would be parked in the lot where I bought it FIRST thing Monday morning. Ask THEM what is going on. Not certain but any civilized state will have some sort of law requiring at least a 30-day "return/warranty" obligation on part of business that sold you the truck. pinkfloyd4ever
I imagine you've tried it already, but you're positive it isn't in 4WD? Put it in 4WD and took it back out a few times. Guessing it doesn't do it for a left turn from what you've said. I'm with Ufatz, right back to the lot tomorrow morning
Jeremy airjer W
It's a new vehicle to you, it happened once?Have you been able to get it to do it again?
snagger
The vehicle is new to me but it has 132,000 on it. It is not in 4wheel. It is in 2wheel drive. I think it has something to do with the center differential lock (CDL) and the VSC. It happens every time I'm on drive pavement and only when turning very sharp at low speeds.I have a 30 warranty from the dealer. What a pain though to bring it back across town. But, i have to do it to figure what's going on.
Macgyver55
Does it have a locking rear differential?
snagger
It has a on/off button for the Center Differential Lock (CDL) but this button is only usable if you're in 4WD. The truck is in 2WD. I'm calling the dealer this morning. It makes me nervous.
Dave S
I had the same year 4Runner. If the diff. lock was put on, you may have to drive in reverse 30 feet to fully disengage it. I think it might even state this on the visor and owners manual.
delcecchi
I can just hear the dealer... "they all do that".
Ufatz
Ha Ha! That's right. It's either "oh, they all do that." or "Gee...never heard of that before on that model."Always keep in mind: if their lips are moving they are lying. snagger
Were you guys there when I talked to the dealer? Because that's basically what they said. Of course when I took the mechanic for a test drive I couldn't make th truck do it so he said there's nothing wrong. I left it with them to put it on the hoist to double check everything and they called back about 2 hours later it said that nothing is wrong except one of the front tires has 3/52 more tread and that is probably causing it.
